Why can't egg cartons be returned to Migros? The use-by date would not necessarily have to be visible on the carton, as the eggs are already stamped accordingly. This could save a lot of unnecessary waste.

Good morning Migipedia community and community team.
Jan from the @M-Infoline, mentioned "we use recycled paper". (He probably meant the cardboard boxes)
But I had an idea, maybe it's not a good one.
You could put tissue paper next to the egg cartons. Then they could put the tissue paper in the cardboard boxes first and put eggs on top. Fold them together so that the lid can be closed. At home you can unpack it and throw it away. Or use it again for yourself. Carton back clean thing. Meat, fish and cheese are also packaged for hygienic reasons. Why shouldn't you "SELF-PACKAGE" eggs in the same way?
Or take your own carton from the last time and fill it again for yourself.
And don't give me the "can't be implemented, at least alternatives can be implemented in open sales. With packaged eggs, sure. It will be more difficult.
Children used to make things with egg cartons for Mother's Day or from yogurt cups in kindergarten or 1st grade. So if they don't give their mother any data volumes for Mother's Day these days, you could bring them yourself and ask if they could use it. Only then consider throwing it.
What do you think of the Migros community and community team proposal?

Hello everyone
Thank you very much for your dedicated thoughts.
I'll pass on your various concerns about eggs and egg packaging to our sustainability colleague and get back to you as soon as I receive her feedback.
Best regards
Kathrin
Hello everyone
Our experts have given me the following feedback: We cannot take back egg cartons for hygiene reasons - even if the customer puts tissue paper in the carton before filling it, because if an egg breaks, for example, the carton will get dirty even with the tissue paper. What's more, the used boxes would have to be checked when they are returned and that would be very time-consuming or the effort would be disproportionate to the benefit.
However, sustainability is important to us, which is why we only use cardboard made from recycled material. Incidentally, the cardboard can be put in the cardboard collection or even composted. You can also bring your own cardboard and fill it with open eggs in the store.
Have a nice day and best regards
Kathrin
Good morning @Kathrin_Migros
The redemption was not new to me, I have already commented on it. I was just waiting for the feedback.
I've also seen the open sale, but who checks that the boxes you bring are filled? Someone comes with a container of four and changes their mind, because another cake needs to be baked as Uncle Fritz is coming to visit! So the box of four is left and a bigger one comes home?
For a month now, I've been able to leave the four organic eggs I buy every month on the shelf, as my neighbor has bought four Friesian hens that are allowed to scratch around in my yard!
Best wishes and have a nice week
Frederica
Dear Migipedia community and community team,
Eggs are sometimes different colors. I think it's different breeds of hens that lay them. So much for the varieties.
The 2nd thing @Frederica mentioned is who checks whether the egg cartons are full. It's the lady on the conveyor belt, I don't know about Selv Scanning.
I think I remember it correctly but I'm not sure.
@Kathrin_Migros We also had the hygiene argument in the "own container" thread (cheese, meat, fish counter).
And that doesn't count if it's not observed by the workers. I had cheese cut and packed with my bare hands again on Saturday.
The people at the cheese counter know us and are always nice, so they don't want to mess with anyone.
But if egg cartons can be brought back, that's a good thing.

@Mystery1978
The blue eggs don't come from the same hens as the yellow ones?
Oh, now I'm really disappointed.
?
Hello@Mystery1978
If you are a quizzer or watch such programs, do you know that hens with red earlobes, lay brown eggs and with whites, white eggs ? I have never bought open eggs, but what I see is that many people open the cartons and see if the eggs are whole ? If not, the carton is replaced, or what is not allowed at all, the defective egg is replaced with an egg in a different carton. This is even more inconvenient and prohibited, as the eggs may not be from the same batch and producer.
Greetings
Frederica
Wow am I glad to know that blue eggs don't come from the same chickens. The one with the earlobes is also good @Frederica for that we have a change of lexicon. In the food industry, things work a little differently than in hospitals. That's why people come out sicker than they go in.
@Bodenseeknusperli
That's exactly why he calls himself Mystery. Everything that comes from him is pretty mysterious.
Has other reasons but what the heck, you're right and I'm not right. Watch Check up on Tele M1 or Tele Züri and you'll know what I'm talking about. I thought if you were so super intelligent, you would understand what I mean. Now I'm a little disappointed in you. Teach me better - you can do better than me . ?
