Migros product reviews: What's the point?
Migros-Produktbewertungen: Was soll das Ganze?

You've probably wondered what the Migros product reviews are all about. Why we ask you to improve your purchases in the Sunday Migros newsletter, in the Migros app and sometimes also via social media. Believe me, your product reviews are important to us so that we can improve our products and better understand what is important to you. Understandably, a 1-star rating does not immediately set off alarm bells. However, if there is a lot of negative feedback, our product managers will take action. Speaking of product managers: Every day, we provide around 450 Migros employees from different areas with the product ratings that are relevant to them. Changes take time. This also applies to our products. And that is why, for various reasons, it is not always possible to react immediately and change a product. Nevertheless, I have put together a few examples from the last few years to show that we take your feedback seriously and that it makes a difference.
Party pretzel, M-Budget toast, toothpaste and many more
For various reasons, we decided a few years ago to produce the salted Party Pretzels abroad. We were also able to offer them at a lower price. However, you were not convinced by the quality, which we clearly noticed in the product reviews. So we brought production back to Switzerland. The same applies to the M-Budget light and dark toast. A look at the salad dressing shelf, where we also stock 0.5-liter bottles, is also thanks to your feedback. How many of you have overlooked the transparent film on the edge of the toothpaste tube? Thanks to you, it is no longer transparent. I, for example, was annoyed several times that the puff pastry always stuck. I wasn't the only one. You told us the same thing and we actually noticed that the flour quality had changed and we had to adjust the amount of water. These are just a few examples that show how important your product reviews are to us. It has also become clear that if we optimize our products based on your feedback, this will also have a positive impact on Migros' sales in the long term. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you from all of us.
All well and good, but ...
Product reviews are a kind of "fuel" when it comes to optimizing products. Of course, other aspects also play a role. But let's stick with reviews: To ensure that there is enough "fuel" and that as many Migros products as possible are rated, we are actively asking you to rate your purchases. We advertise this in the Sunday Migros newsletter and with some regularity in the Migros app and on social media. Whenever possible, we will only show you products on Migipedia.ch that you have actually bought. Of course, we sometimes recommend products that you have given away or not even tried yet. I would like to make a comment on this: Anyone who is particularly satisfied or mega disappointed with a (Migros) product will always find a way to let the company know. But we don't just want the best and the worst, we want all reviews 😉. And that's why we use the newsletter and the Migros app to advertise. And whenever we use these channels, it happens that reviews are written that don't help us or other customers.
Finally, once again a request and a huge thank you. When writing a product review, please put yourself in the reader's shoes. What might interest them? What aspects would you like to emphasize in the review? Quality, taste, packaging or simply the appearance? Perhaps the fit, if we're not thinking about food? We get enough reviews, the "fuel" is flowing. But perhaps it could be of better quality in future. Can you help me with this? Thank you very much! I've been doing my job at Migros and Migipedia.ch for over nine years and I still really enjoy it. I owe it to all of you, the writers and readers in the forum, the reviewers and all the testers, that this is the case. Thank you very much for your commitment!
Best regards
Philipp
