I am a student at the vocational baccalaureate school in Zurich. As a small project, I am investigating the advantages and disadvantages of Migros and Coop.
Can anyone give me specific advantages and disadvantages of Migros compared to Coop?
- Migros, store and toilets are cleaner than at Coop.
- Migros fruit and vegetables are many times fresher, and are also offered in a "friendlier" way
- Migros is more "real/tangible" than Coop. Coop seems somehow artificial.
- Migros generally has a calmer/warmer atmosphere than Coop. In the Coop (at least here), you're practically overwhelmed by loud music, "poisonous" lighting and annoying advertising announcements.
- Since it's quieter in Migros, the customers are also in a more relaxed shopping mood ;P
- Migros staff are a thousand times friendlier!!!!!!!!!
- Migros' own brands look friendlier/more appealing than the almost loveless packaging from Coop.
- Migros, guarantees and problems with products are solved more easily than at the Coop

Doing a kind of brainstorming on Migipedia is a one-sided thing, as most of it is viewed through Migros' glasses!
I don't know Coop well enough to make a comparison. :-)

Migros is not better, it's just different, I grew up with Migros and I hope to grow old with it too
I don't find Coop interesting as an employer either. They almost only offer hourly wages.
The quality and freshness of Coop is also not reliable. Once I almost got food poisoning from a freshly prepared chicken, fresh pasta was still fresh according to the date but already rotten, the vegetables and fruit are old and rotten and are still sold at full price. My complaint was made 2 weeks ago (detailed report with photos), and I have still not received any notification or confirmation. Take the problem seriously? Nope.
The advertising message... I noticed that too.
I also find the products at Migros more appealing.
Migros is also more social in terms of staff (as I have experienced different types of employees).
Coop just focuses on brands. The own brand seems to play no role (see product design, quality,...).
The baskets are really cleaner at Migros.
Coop has mega long opening hours. I find this negative for employees.
The staff are friendlier.
The Coop restaurant in Dietlikon was an absolute disaster. Would have preferred to stay in Manora. Was because the Coop restaurant no longer exists.
Fortunately.
I was once at the Coopbank on Mysterieshopping day. They couldn't give us any brochures on the grounds that we could look them up on the internet ourselves. That would save paper. A good idea, but a bit out of place here. At a service company? How about recycling? There are other ways to save paper. The customer advisor also said this with an insecure tone.
I think Coop is simply arrogant (charisma).
Oh yes, I also grew up with Migros.
I know others who grew up with Coop but now only shop at Migros. Precisely because of these points.

I grew up as a Coop kid and later converted thanks to my LAG. I now buy most of my groceries at Migros (because it's a bit cheaper than Coop). But for certain products (toast from Ölz) I go to Coop.

I only know the lag time or time lag, the delay of the networks between the server and the end devices!
