In Android, the Postcard can be stored in the PostFinance app, but unlike Twint, the PostFinance app does not have to be started to be able to pay with it. However, the phone must be "awake" for it to work.
This is not possible on Apple because Apple does not allow NFC to be used for this by third-party apps. They want the payment function via NFC exclusively for ApplePay. The reason for this is not even security or any other major goal for Apple customers, but they demand a transaction fee from the banks. This is so high that ApplePay can only be supported profitably with credit cards. There, the fee is high enough that the bank doesn't just add to it.
The fee is too low for debit cards. The bank would pay on top. However, Apple's terms and conditions are such that you cannot only support certain cards from the bank, but a bank must always support all the cards it has. However, as the Swiss prefer to use debit cards rather than credit cards, it is only a profitable business in Switzerland for banks that only have credit cards. It only becomes profitable when the banks massively increase debit card fees.
That's why I don't think ApplePay is particularly great. Ultimately, the costs would be passed on to all of us.
(I'm ducking now, because the sparks are probably about to fly... ;-)

Back in February 2016, it was announced that Migros would support payment with Twint from 2017 (see Tagesanzeiger of 17.02.16, for example). Unfortunately, nothing has happened so far (January 2018!) that is noticeable for customers.
The reason seems to me to be that integration into the Migros app is being frantically pushed. From the customer's point of view, the combination of Cumulus and payment method may bring a few advantages, but it is not at all compelling and in some cases even disadvantageous. For example, some customers want to be able to pay with Twint even without Cumulus, but above all they don't want to wait years for the apparently not so simple integration. For customers like me, this gives the impression that Migros is focusing on its own interests in this regard (enforcement of Cumulus, reduction of transaction fees) and less on customer interests.
Activating Twint via QR code at the standard EC terminals (as can be found at various other retailers) should certainly be possible within a very short time and is very convenient and fast for the customer (within 2-3 seconds). I hope that at least this will be possible by spring.

@Famsl Nix Fetzen - Interesting contribution.... ;-) I've always wondered why the credit cards are issued by a private bank in Lugano and not all the cantonal banks, Raiffeisen and Postfinance...
But honestly, it's not the debit card fees that need to be massively increased - it's the credit card fees that need to be massively reduced! But in the high-price island, people pay this without grumbling....
No idea whether this post is still relevant or not...
I'd like to know why it's still not possible to pay directly at the terminal with Twint in 2019 without the sh** Migros app. I don't understand why a payment process should be so unnecessarily complicated. If I want to pay with Twint, I'll use the Twint app and not a Migros app. If every retailer starts using it, we'll have a Manor app, Denner app, Lidl app, Aldi app, all of which you'll only need to be able to pay with Twint instead of just having the Twint app and scanning the QR code directly at the terminal.
One app per payment method, not per store. The idea of Twint was to replace the usual debit card and to be able to pay with a smartphone. I don't want or need another Migros app to replace Twint for making payments.
@DerBannhammer
For some time now, it has been possible to pay directly with the Twint app at the Migros payment terminal. A QR code is generated on the display, which you have to scan.
This also works at Manor, by the way.

Unfortunately no, I tried it yesterday and today in two different Migros. Both times it said TWINT and declined on the payment terminal.
Edit:
To be even more specific...it didn't work via the Twint app (aforementioned error message on the terminal), but it did work via the Migros app where I have Twint on file, which of course led me to believe that Migros only accepts Twint via their own app after all in all seriousness.
Yes, I know, once again the opponent of technology. But you can pay with Twint at the checkout. I know this because I once asked in some Migros how many people pay with Twint.
The answer was "not many between 1-3 a day". Go to the checkout and it works.
But at least it works ? if you want to pay with Twint, you shouldn't just see the advantages, you should also consider the disadvantages, and admit that it can't be made right for everyone. Yesterday I was also made more difficult to shop at Migros without Twint, just with money and a Cummulus card. I was really pissed off too, so I fully understand what you're saying.
