Insect hotels: great idea, poorly implemented

Insektenhotels: super Idee, mangelhaft umgesetzt

Hello I was very happy about the idea of the insect hotel, which you can get for 40 collection points. The joy was soon gone when I took a closer look at the little house. Insect nesting aids made of pine wood do more harm than good. The insects injure their delicate wings on the fibrous softwood as soon as they reach the frayed entrance. I feel sorry for the animals. Another point of criticism is the material from New Zealand. The timber cultivation there offers no permanent habitat for animals. As soon as the planted trees are big enough, the whole forest is radically cleared. Production in China is the third negative point. Long transport routes are in contrast to a project that is supposed to support the environment. My insect hotel now hangs in the garden with stuffed boreholes. Gluing them shut would also be an option. Pine cones and bamboo tubes are ready for use : ) Conclusion: Brilliant idea, poorly researched, cheaply implemented. Suggestion for another time: Use local hardwood and have insect hotels made in protected Swiss workshops. Sand down frayed drill holes. I would be prepared to collect more points and/or pay an appropriate contribution for the additional financial outlay.
