The Jowa-Christstollen (it used to be called Dresdner-Stollen) was really delicious. I must have eaten 2-3 pieces every winter for over 30 years. The new one is not only worse, I threw it away after 2-3 attempts (and I'm really not fussy). When I asked Migros, I got the same terse answer. I think it was mainly due to the margin. As Migros people confirmed to me time and again: even products that are in demand disappear for this reason. Well, then the search began: I must have tested pretty much everything (Lidl, Aldi, Coop, Spar Austria etc.). And then suddenly I was faced with this: certain Coop branches sell butter stollen from Emil Reimann, Dresden. Not quite cheap (Fr. 14.-), but no matter: I can only recommend it to all those who are disappointed. Hopefully it will be available again this year. It's a pity that you have to cheat more and more often. The organic rapeseed butter has also suddenly disappeared: Now I only buy butter (an equivalent product) at Spar in Austria.
Yes - I also mourn the lost or discarded Feststollen with pear/nut filling, Christmas Stollen and Dresden Stollen.
Tried the baked apple stollen a year ago, a firm, juicy calorie bomber with a ~ three millimeter layer of powdered sugar that was pushed away.
As the stollen I saw on Thursday didn't appeal to me, I went for colomba, pandoro and panettone from the province of Forlì-Cesena.
Hello everyone, I understand your disappointment. However, my clarification with the specialist department has shown that we are still no longer offering Jowa Stollen in our range.
With our new supplier, we are offering Butter Stollen, Art.No. 1136.719, Fine Marzipan Stollen, Art.No. 1136.717, Mini Stollen Confectionery, Art.No. 1136.718 and now Mini Stollen with a chocolate coating.
Why don't you try them out, maybe you will like one or the other just as much. Best regards, Sina
Too bad :-( and I still had hope that they would come back this year. The others were an obvious failure. But it's also a good thing for me. I used to eat about 10-15 of the Jowa stollen :-) Now I don't have any more stollen.
Maybe we can hope for 2019. And that the Migros subsidiary Jowa has realized its mistake and is producing again ;-))
Kind regards
I strongly agree with the many reports. It's a great loss that Jowa Christmas stollen is no longer being produced. I won't be buying any more Christmas stollen at Migros either.
What a pity!
I also make sure I buy local products as a matter of principle.
Dear Sina
I know you are our contact person and can only pass it on to the specialist department.
I'm one of those customers who do their weekend shopping at Migros every weekend.
My favorite store!
We also missed the Christmas stollen that was available every year, because the others don't come close to the old product. We tried a few of the new ones, thick powdered sugar, soft, as well as
more familiar from the German recipe.
The certain firmness of the stollen, the light sugar and above all the taste that the predecessors had, all that is missing.
My answer from Migros Infoline was not satisfactory for me.
I think it is important for customers to know why the product is no longer produced and why it is being replaced by another one. What is the reason for this?
Kind regards Esprit 1
Hello Esprit1, nice to count you among our loyal customers!
I have asked the specialist department again why JOWA no longer produces Christmas stollen. As a Swiss producer, the sale of Christmas stollen has always been a niche business for JOWA that was barely profitable. When demand fell sharply, the cost of the ingredients rose. A vicious circle that unfortunately led to the decision to discontinue the product.
Large manufacturers produce Christmas stollen in much larger quantities and therefore offer a much more attractive price. Our customers really appreciate the price-performance ratio of our new stollen.
Have a nice weekend. Best regards, Sina
Hello Sina,
thank you for your efforts and the honest answer.
Have a nice weekend too.

Dear all, today I bought a Jowa-Christstollen. Apparently it is being produced again!!! It's just stupid that I've already bought Christmas stollen from amazon.de: a Niederegger marzipan stollen (Lübeck) - very tasty - and a Reimann stollen (Dresden) - also highly recommended. Well then, I'm happy anyway: now there will be a big Christmas stollen test tomorrow. Dear Jowa, thank you very much! Your stollen can more than hold its own against those previously mentioned (it's also less than half the price)!
