Question: but are there only mushrooms from China on this planet? Because all canned and even dried mushrooms come from there
Which Swiss produces mushrooms for 0.95 rappen? Nobody!
Nobody is saying that mushrooms have to come from Switzerland. But there are many other countries besides China and Switzerland where mushrooms also grow and don't have to be brought 10,000 km away as they do from China. For example, there are some Balkan countries that come to mind spontaneously and I know that many families there live from picking mushrooms.
It will probably just be a question of price again.
Personally, I don't eat food from China, unfortunately I've seen too many documentaries about it.
And I look for my own morels every spring. From the region and organic too😊
Hi Jeanne77, thank you for your question. You are right, many of our canned and dried mushrooms come from China. Why? Unfortunately, there are not enough mushrooms in Switzerland to meet the demand of our customers, thus including yours, throughout the year. To always guarantee you the best quality, we import mushrooms from China. But don't worry, we meet the highest standards! Our mushrooms undergo rigorous testing to ensure hygiene and food safety. Our suppliers must meet these requirements, and we monitor them very carefully. Sincerely, Mara
Exactly. Dried worms, insect larvae, pine needles and other dirt, as well as mushrooms full of worm damage, can be found in Chinese dried porcini mushrooms because they are so carefully controlled. It makes me laugh... Well, if you buy cheap, you get cheap. Everyone can choose for themselves.

Unfortunately, the price will then have to be adjusted. Even the Balkans (where I come from) will no longer be able to offer you the products at a very low price.
In Switzerland you have the advantage that you have to specify the origin and everyone can decide for themselves whether it suits them. In DE, nothing is specified.

I'd rather pay more than poison myself with all the pesticides. Then it depends on whether one wants to eat or gorge. The same goes for Spain: if you eat Spanish strawberries, they are just sweet but they don't taste like strawberries, unlike Swiss strawberries.

Denner (Migros) used to sell canned mushrooms (Fr. 1.40, a reasonable price) from Poland, which were not so bad. But then, all of a sudden, it started selling them-so to speak, because nobody buys them-from China.
