I spontaneously grabbed the marble roulade in Bern-Westside today because it had a special offer sticker on it. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until I got home that the normal price of CHF 3.60 was being charged. I couldn't find a sign on the shelf (it was a special table with promotions only) telling me what percentage off the goods were, but I trusted the round sticker on the packaging.

This is a product that I only treat myself to occasionally when it's on promotion, otherwise I can do without it or wait for the next promotion (about three times a year is enough for me). So I'm all the more annoyed that I've been "caught out" again, even if it's only a franc at most. It's simply not right to mark items as being on promotion when they are not. When I got home from shopping, I fished the latest M magazine out of the letterbox and immediately checked to see if it might be a promotion that doesn't start until tomorrow (even then, it wouldn't be right to mark the goods today). But no, no roulade promotion in the magazine. Not even online.

It's understandable that you feel you've been taken for a ride - anyone who shops blindly or trusts Migros blindly would probably feel the same way. Migros used this trick to sell several thousand roulades at the regular price throughout Switzerland today. :-) Nevertheless, you have to admit that it is an original and extremely enterprising idea to put a promotion on the label without reducing the product. You can't even call it fraudulent labeling, because maybe that was the point of the promotion. Just wait, in a few days there'll be the next promotion where the goods will be 2 francs more expensive than normal. :-)
A promotion does not necessarily mean a price reduction. The organization "Aktion Sorgenkind" has nothing to do with prices.

It can also be leftover goods from a previous week. Salmon, for example, is deliberately sold as a special offer because it would no longer be edible a short time later.
The solution is simple: return the product. If it says "special offer" on the pack, it must be one. Otherwise it is deliberate deception.
The fact that Migros' promotions only start on Tuesdays and they are already set up on Mondays is, in my opinion, chicanery and pure peasant trapping. Logistically, it would be possible to start promotions on Monday without any problems. But once again, sales are more important.

Sometimes I'm always annoyed with myself when something like this happens (there's a system at Coop, which is why I've gradually reduced my purchases there over the last few years) and I only notice it when I get home. You have to keep a close eye on the cashiers and memorize the promotional goods so that you can intervene immediately if the till shows something different than it should. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to be distracted, because especially when you're buying in bulk, you have to make sure that delicate goods aren't crushed or that the previous customer doesn't help themselves to the goods I've paid for (I've seen it all before). And under time pressure, you often only give the receipt a cursory glance before packing. No, what is repeatedly touted as a "shopping experience" is anything but a pleasure.
Perhaps this method is intended to "invite" customers who are still reluctant to do the work themselves at the self-scanning checkouts - without any reward, of course, and with the risk of being made out to be a criminal if they make a mistake. But that's another topic...

I have enquired at Migros Bern-Westside. The store manager is very sorry about this mistake. She can only explain it by the fact that not all products marked with a promotional sticker could be sold during the promotional phase and that the stickers were subsequently forgotten to be removed.

On the one hand, they forgot to scrape off the promotional stickers, which is usually not possible with the stupid glue without damaging the packaging, because otherwise every customer could stick them on regular goods. Many years ago I learned that you have to sell unsold promotional items at the same price after the end of the period. In other words, they must not be relabeled or relabeled at the end of the period!

Since there was no roulade promotion from June 21-27, this special table must have been in the store for at least a whole additional week with a huge mountain of roulades of all non-refrigerated varieties. Anyone who knows these roulades knows that there are never any with a three-week shelf life in the store, so it must have been a relatively fresh delivery.

There must be a trick to quickly remove the action labels without a trace or residue. The best thing to do is to ask Westside's fairy tale aunt Tamara Pfander how she does it. I learned from the Bernerzeitung that the woman is a Migros expert.
