Hello, I would like to know why the Senior Card 2023 is only valid on three (Tue-Thu) instead of five (Tue-Sat) days. The previous offer was reduced by 40% of the possible shopping days, which is quite drastic.

It used to be more than logical to rearrange on Saturday - because the special offers had to be ready when the store opened on Monday. See Aldi and Lidl, where this is still the case - unfortunately. Vegetables and fruit are at the entrance to the store because they want to create a market atmosphere. I think it's stupid and nonsensical, I preferred it when the cat food was still stacked at the store entrance. That way the customers didn't pile up, but spread out around the store. I love deserted stores. Nobody stands in my way - except the staff - and I can stroll through the store in peace. That's why I usually go shopping at less busy times. A full store is just as unpleasant for me as a city bus at rush hour. So, the herd animal thing: no, I really don't... ...and I don't think many senior citizens do either. They would like to shop in peace. That's why I would like to return to the question of why Migros Aare doesn't also hold its senior citizens' days on Mondays and I hope Migros will provide an answer.
No.. I don't understand you... the promotion was always only on Tuesdays... and I think it's been around for over 10 years... during the Corona period you could redeem the card from Tuesday to Monday to distribute people better (but only once). Now it has been restricted to Tuesday to Thursday again. Where is the need for such a long discussion?

I think the time of day probably has a greater influence. When do working people do their shopping? This is usually around 4.00 - 7.00 p.m. during the week and all day on Saturdays from around 8.00 a.m. Then there is the lunch peak from around 11.00 - 2.00 p.m. (e.g. schoolchildren). A smaller peak at around 08.00 - 09.00 (e.g. housewives buying ingredients for lunch). If Migros opens at 07.30, you even have an ideal time to shop on Saturday. If not, then during the week 09.00 - 11.00 and 14.00 - 16.00. As well as evening shopping from 7.00 p.m. I usually do my shopping at 11.15 a.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. In my experience, the differences are very small. It's a little busier on days with shorter opening hours (e.g. Maundy Thursday or the Wednesday before Ascension Day). I have set aside Tuesday as an alternative day if another day of the week is cancelled due to a public holiday. Monday is for occasional shopping at the competition (e.g. Coop City).

There's no need for a long discussion. Nobody is questioning the fact that the Senior Citizens' Days were originally only held on Tuesdays. Nobody is questioning why in 2023 the Senior Citizens' Days will be held on Tuesdays to Fridays (freely selectable). The only question asked was why Mondays and Fridays are no longer available. In my opinion, this is a legitimate question, as I have explained. You could have simply waited for an answer from Migros. But then YOU started a discussion. A completely unnecessary discussion, because nobody denounced anything, but simply asked a simple question that has not yet been answered. Now that you yourself are of the opinion that there is no need for a discussion, can we end the discussion and simply wait for an answer from Migros?

" You could have simply waited for an answer from Migros. " - but this answer will probably NEVER come - because this whole discussion is damn embarrassing for Migros ! No - it's not a question of the day of the week - BUT: Why does only a limited area in Switzerland get such a high discount - at the expense of whom ? It's like if the SBB, the post office and Swisscom lowered the prices for residents between Zurich and Bern by 10% and increased them by 20% in the rest of Switzerland... Here in the outlying regions, Migros is getting more and more expensive ! Simply embarrassing !
How should I understand this? Is a 10% discount on a Monday or Friday more expensive for Migros than on Tuesdays and Thursdays? I can understand that you don't want to lure senior citizens into the stores with discounts on Saturdays, but any other restriction is completely pointless and nothing but harassment.
Hello everyone, thank you for your feedback. I'll reply to you all in this one post. 😊 @Federwolke: Unfortunately, the cooperative is not giving us any more detailed information on this topic. It tells us the following again: As already communicated, our customers aged 60 and over now have the opportunity to benefit from a 10% discount on one of three days instead of just one day as was the case before the corona pandemic. Participation in the senior citizens' program is of course voluntary. We assure you that this is not a harassment, but simply a step back to normality after Corona. However, as the offer of being able to use the discount flexibly was very popular with senior citizens, the redemption option has been extended from one day to three days. @Bodenseeknusperli: Migros is organized into ten cooperatives in Switzerland - as you are no doubt aware. Each cooperative is independent and free to organize its own activities. This has the advantage that we can respond to regional circumstances and take regional suppliers into account. In response to your request, the Eastern Switzerland cooperative has informed me of the following: For the time being, we are not offering a general discount for senior citizens. With the Cumulus program, Migros already offers many benefits and discounts for all customers, from which retired people can also benefit. We would still be happy to pass on your request for such a discount for your parents to the relevant departments. I wish you all a great start to the weekend. Best regards, Chloe

"For the time being, we do not expect a general discount for senior citizens." General discount - the GMO in Gossau must have misunderstood something... Thank you, Chloe, for carrying out these clarifications with the two cooperatives.

"General discount - the GMO in Gossau must have misunderstood something..." - They didn't get anything wrong - the discount is generally for all senior citizens, not just those with a supplementary pension... the only criterion is membership of the Aare section. It's not even about double points on a Thursday (as they were abolished in the MGO) - NO, it's about an exorbitant 10 percent!

You're also one of those people who have to twist everyone's every word, aren't you? A "general discount for senior citizens" surely means for EVERY purchase made by senior citizens, and not ONE SINGLE purchase per month, as is the case at Migros Aare.

Thank you for your reply. The logic of the reasoning is compelling: we are now reversing the good ideas (i.e. spreading the rush of senior citizens over as many days as possible) that the pandemic has given us. Reason: it's no longer a pandemic. Questioning the meaning: no, don't! It's like: We could be a lot better than we used to be, but be happy that we're even a little bit better than we used to be. And you're surprised that Migros is no longer No. 1? OK...

What nonsense, sorry. I have zero sympathy for your criticism of the Senior Citizens' Week. No other retailer in the Migros Aare region is offering you 10%: Until 2019, Senior Citizens' Day was on Tuesday. Because 2020-2022 was coronavirus, it was extended to Tues-Monday. Now the days have been reduced again, but still 2 days more than before Corona. What's so difficult to understand? It's still better than leaving it back to Tuesday. Maybe it's a relief for the staff. Weekend shopping plus a senior citizens' card may not always be an advantage
