Hello everyone
Thank you for your comments and the discussion here.
I am still in the process of clarifying whether there are plans to equip our system so that cash payment will also be possible in the future. As soon as I find out more, I will let you know.
At the moment, we recommend that people who would like to pay in cash use one of the staffed tills. If you would like to have control over your spending without having to forego the Subito/self-scanning options, you can buy gift vouchers as an alternative and pay with them.
Kind regards
Tanja

Hello everyone
"Gift vouchers" sounds like paper and therefore unspeakably cumbersome. But Tanja of course means gift cards or cash cards that can be topped up again and again.
The Migros app also comes with a digital cash card (payment card), which can also be topped up and used at Subito and Selfscan machines.
" More information about physical and digital Migros payment cards here

> Always paying by credit card is dangerous because of the limit.
Then the limit is set incorrectly (too high), or you get involved in dangerous models such as partial payment. The limit should be significantly lower than your own savings. A normal credit card with a monthly statement (charge card) with a sensible limit is by no means dangerous, but a very convenient and practical means of payment.
> So in this day and age, it shouldn't be a problem to offer both at Selfscan.
Offering cash payment is a huge cost factor, especially for automated payment stations. Not only would you have to install a cash validator for coins and notes, but also a system that automatically dispenses coins and notes as return money. The payment stations would therefore be larger and more expensive.
I would much prefer to increase the number of stations to prevent waiting times during rush hours.
Especially as there is a remedy in the form of gift cards/cash cards, as already mentioned.

Good morning@Tanja_Migros
The slogan is: "subito - quick and easy shopping". If coins and banknotes were iterated and checked, the payment process would be considerably slower and further delayed by the return of money.
SCAN, PACK and PAY CASHLESS, that's all it takes.
By the way, we have already covered this topic: Self-Scan

With all due respect, the self-checkouts at the Coop work very quickly, despite cash payments. And the cards also have their time these days. And just because I don't have or don't want to use a card, do I have to go to the staffed checkouts? Or do I have to consider another payment option?

Hello fluidlina
I paid with cash for the first time today at Coop at the self-scan machine. And I will never do it again. You're right when you say that the machine works quickly, but I find paying in cash with the various compartments quite tedious.
That's why I'm also going to buy a gift card for Coop, because it's much more convenient. The gift cards at both Coop and Migros are free of charge and just as anonymous as cash, and you can pay with them just as accurately.

I overheard a conversation on the train that Subito is being abolished again. I can't imagine that's true. I'd be glad of a few reassuring words, because I wouldn't want to do without Subito again!
On the subject of cash: My emergency banknotes have been lying blissfully in my wallet for months. I make contactless payments almost everywhere using the Apple Watch (and where contactless is not yet possible [very rare cases] with the Maestro card). I don't know why I still use cash today...

Subito (self-scanning) is to be abolished? That would be a great pity! I really hope this is a misunderstanding.
What I could still somehow understand would be the abolition of self-checkout ... I now use it less and less because self-scanning is faster and available in more and more stores, even for 2-3 items. Perhaps the target group for self-checkout will eventually disappear.

Hello everyone
I don't believe that Subito should be abolished in general. That would make no sense given the long pilot phase. But it could perhaps be that the conversation was about a specific, small branch. Or another variant: I seem to remember reading that the Migros branch in Zurich-Herdern is to be the first to use stations where you can make both self-scan and Subito purchases. Today, these are still two different devices.
And one more thought: @eventus, could it be that the conversation wasn't about the Subito payment system at all, but about the ready meal brand Subito? Perhaps there should be a new name here again? Migros, which often renames its own brands, could be trusted to do so.
Let's see what @Tabi_Migros comes up with in this matter.
