However, the Coop system (Passabene) has the major disadvantage that you still have to go past the staffed checkout with the scanner, including the checkouts. At Migros-Subito, you can pay at your own payment stations, which take up much less space and require fewer staff than a checkout and are therefore more numerous. And you can only pay without a Supercard if you use your own cell phone and not a hand scanner.
I think scanning with your own cell phone is a great idea. Also for non-Cumulus customers. But then you should also be able to store a credit card in the app so that you don't have to queue at a payment station (or even at a staffed checkout), scan a barcode and then pay at the card terminal.
Cash payments are rather anachronistic. It's much quicker and easier with a card, and automatic cash validators and change systems are large, expensive and prone to errors. If you need it, you can still pay at the cashier. Or buy a credit/gift card with cash there.
Not quite true. At Coop, you can also go to the self-scanners with your Passabene and don't necessarily have to go to the staffed checkouts.
I wouldn't want to be without the self-scanning stations. It's quick, easy and there's no queuing. Whether with or without a Cumulus card is up to me.

I think paying with cash is a bit excessive: If you want to do that, just go to the cashier.

Certainly not, you should also have the option of paying with cash at Selfscan. Because always paying with a credit card is dangerous because of the limit. So nowadays it shouldn't be a problem to offer both at Selfscan.
So at Coop you can choose between cash and card... I don't think it's necessary to have a card because not everyone has one...
