Dear busy Migros employees, I have noticed your efforts to offer your open "Weggli" (no not "Brötchen" - I want to blybe bim Schwyzerdütsch) in many sales outlets now also pre-packed. I find this very exemplary and commendable in Corona times.
Unfortunately, when it comes to open pastries, there are always customers who don't reach for the pastry tongs, but reach into the container with their own grippers to fish out a Weggli (often touching other Weggli without being embarrassed).
My request to you, in the hope that the pastry tongs will then perhaps be used more often: - enough long chains on the tongs or more pastry tongs - tongs that can be opened wide enough so that a Büürli can also be gripped with them. Thank you for your constant improvements (I worked in the retail trade myself for a long time) and I know that it is not easy to fulfil all customer requests and wishes. All the best, Mamam

Dear mamam, thank you very much for your kind words and your tips regarding the pastry tongs. I understand your concerns. I will be happy to pass on your suggestions to our specialist department. Kind regards, Tabea
I hereby outed myself as a consistent "gripper denier". I don't assume that these tongs are disinfected after each use and many people are simply green. Just look at how many people now simply walk past the hand sanitizer at the entrance. Anyone who grabs their biscuits directly (and only grabs them!), especially if they are buying them for themselves and not for someone else, is definitely behaving more hygienically than those who use tongs. However, as there are also people who have to touch and squeeze everything before deciding what to buy, I very rarely buy these open-faced sandwiches. I'm less sensitive about fruit and vegetables, which are washed, peeled or cooked before eating anyway.

Maybe offer a large spoon or ladle instead of the tongs? Maybe that would be better?
How are you going to get a croissant onto a spoon?
It has to be correspondingly large. More like a ladle you know... Possibly oval? There are also scoops like that, which used to be used for loose sweets. That's big and old-fashioned. But it works much better.

Well... the "spoon" thing will probably be very difficult... I can already see the "Bürli und Weggli" rolling 2 to 3 meters through the stores :-) if then rather a combination of "spoon" and tongs.... (like a pelican's beak, larger and deeper at the bottom and a smaller part at the top, so that you can still get a good grip) However, I am also a hand-gripper, but I only take out my "pawed" ones. for this, "Stülpsäckli" would also be good, so you could grab the pastry directly with the packaging, take it out and turn it inside out => it is packaged and everyone would be happy... (if you want to buy several, you could then put them in a larger bag or in your own bread bag... ) I don't trust the tongs either, because I don't want to know what was previously handled with my hands... Unfortunately, the "half paper, half plastic bags" don't work anymore, I found this better before with the "pure plastic" packaging.

Hello :) I also think it's very commendable that you can now buy the pasta packaged! :) Otherwise, there could also be a simple disinfectant bottle next to the tongs so that you can disinfect them again before and after use. Unfortunately, you see too many people simply reaching in with their hands. Even if you only buy a single roll, I think you can still use tongs for the sake of others. Kind regards

Hi Mareike135 I have taken your suggestion about the disinfectant and put it to the people responsible. At the moment, I can't promise you that we will be able to implement this. Overall, we have noticed that using the tongs works pretty well. Kind regards, Angela

I sometimes take the bread roll out by hand. But only if I'm 100 percent sure that I'm going to buy it. And before I do, I check again to see if the wallet is there ;-) Maybe it would help if the openings for taking out the rolls were a bit smaller so that you can get in less easily with your hands. German stores (e.g. Marktkauf) often have them like this.

Yes, I understand, there are just too many obstacles with the tongs (sometimes the chains are not long enough). I find it funny that people are horrified by the tongs. I am more horrified by the shopping baskets/shopping carts, lift buttons, my own wallet, cell phone, door traps, etc.
