My Migros store stopped selling meat on the counter some time ago. Since then, it has been practically impossible for a single-person household to buy meat because all the portions are too big.

Wouldn't the butcher be ideal? Do you have one nearby? You can also get very small quantities of meat there and with less plastic packaging!
I now shop at the Coop. There's a meat bank there.

I can understand this wish and I would be happy if there were generally packages for 2 people that could also be frozen. Especially with meat, originally frozen meat should not be frozen a second time. I think it's a shame that such meat is labeled with such small print - I would prefer the opposite: a clearly visible logo: "Suitable for freezing".
I would also like to see this information. Then you can see at a glance what is going on.
Thank you Sina Then I guess I'll say goodbye Migros - even though I like shopping at Migros - and shop at Coop.
Hello judoa, thank you very much for your message, which we are sorry to hear :-(. Best regards, Tabea

Hello judoa. I can understand your frustration. Unfortunately, my fridge also has a freezer compartment that is far too small, so you can't just freeze leftover meat.
Sorry but have a look at Coop, Bern is a big city, it should certainly be there.
Or the West Side, which is not far away. That's probably why the open sale went badly, otherwise there are not far from 2 competitors. What I can no longer get at Migros I get elsewhere. Unfortunately, that's the way it is.

I don't like to go to a center like Westside for quick shopping. Nowadays I do all my shopping at a Migros competitor when I need meat.
We actually shop almost exclusively at Migros. But it's a little different when it comes to meat. When it comes to meat, I like to go to the local butcher. There are actually several reasons for this: the butcher's meat is, quite noticeably, of better quality. I think anyone who likes meat, and not just because it's part of the menu, will notice that. Not just on the plate by the taste and bite, but also when cooking. Other reasons are that I can determine the quantity myself and even have it vacuum-packed in the desired size for freezing. The animals very often come from the local area. And last but not least, I am very happy to support the village butcher, especially in Corona times. At the village butcher, I can sometimes make a special request or even be asked by the butcher. The slightly higher price than at Migros makes up for the reasons above. As I said, I'm also a Migro kid and buy most of my groceries at Migros, even meat from time to time when there really isn't enough time. Try it out for a month and then draw your own conclusions.

Hi, when I lived alone in a household, I was also constantly confronted with the fact that the quantities of meat you get in the supermarket are simply always too much. I then simply started portioning the meat pack and just divided the rest into different portions and froze them. This also saves you money, because the large quantities are often cheaper in the bulk discount and you always have a supply at home :)
