I'm annoyed by all these barbecue ads with the oversized pieces of meat on the posters. Why encourage people to eat even more meat? There are also halloumi, vegetables or veggie cookies that could be advertised. Meat is unhealthy and ethically and ecologically reprehensible. These advertisements do not fit in with a company that repeatedly describes itself as sustainable.

There are nets for vegetables to save plastic.
The next week they pack the open pieces of cake and chicken legs in plastic containers.
The same goes for minced meat, which is only available in pre-packaged form in some butcher's stores.
This is just one example.

I don't want to continue the discussion here about whether to eat veggies or meat, although there are probably enough reasons to reduce meat consumption (e.g. the enormous amount of resources required for meat production and the associated destruction of the environment). As already mentioned above, I think it's completely wrong that the major distributors keep posturing and claiming that sustainability is important for their company, that the next generation should still have an earth worth living on, etc., but as soon as the first warm rays of sunshine arrive, there are only barbecue campaigns and meat advertisements. OK, Migros probably also mentions that you can throw vegetables or substitute products on the barbecue, but I would argue that the target group for this advertising doesn't really care. It is precisely the major distributors who have the power to inform shoppers, influence them positively and lead them towards a more sustainable lifestyle.

It's not about taking away the veggie schnitzel, we are thinking a little further ahead, including the future of our children on this planet. And meat consumption definitely does not promote sustainability. You can look at it or bury your head in the sand, to each his own. I like meat, I don't even have my own children, but I'm happy to take responsibility and cut back on meat for the sake of our environment.
