The new Cumulus credit card is marketed with online application and real-time verification as well as immediate digital use. Unfortunately, this does not work. After online registration, a paper application is sent by post with a B Mail reply envelope. The desired additional card is not on the application. Works better with Migros & Migrosbank.

Hello meyrob, thank you for opening the topic. I'm sorry that this didn't work for you. It must be an exception, we have received good feedback on this process since Friday from customers who were able to use the card immediately. If you need more detailed information on this, please contact Migrosbank. best regards, Marc

No, it wasn't an exception. It didn't work for me either. And: As of today, there is a new QR code on the page so that the application in the One app now actually works.

Dear Marc_Migros No - MIGROS and MIGROSBANK are not at all convincing when it comes to issuing the new CUMULUS credit card. After the online application did not work, I submitted a written application by A Mail on July 2, 2022. Today I received another letter requesting my last three salary statements. We have had a Cumulus credit card since 2006 and have always paid our bills on time and in full. Isn't this proof of performance enough? Since 1996 we have had a bank account with Migrosbank and a securities account with assets in the mid six-figure range. Because I have been a pensioner for three years, Migrosbank terminated the securities account because it could not be combined with a savings account! Why was it possible before for more than 20 years? This is definitely no longer Migros and Migrosbank in the spirit of Gottlieb Duttweiler. And no, it's not an improvement. We have now understood: Pensioners are not welcome with the new Migros credit card, as we cannot show any salary statements. Greetings from a disappointed former Migros Aare cooperative councillor (from 1996 to 2008). Please send a copy to my former colleague on the Cooperative Council and current Migros President Ursula Nold with my best regards ;-)

"We've had a Cumulus credit card since 2006 and have always paid our bills on time and in full. Isn't this track record enough?" The previous Cumulus credit cards were issued by Cembra Money Bank AG. Migros Bank is now the issuer. As there was NO transfer of customer data from Cembra to Migros Bank, the credit card had to be applied for from scratch and checked by Migros Bank or Viseca, and therefore the previous payment history cannot be taken into account.

@Nachtspalter: Thousands will share this fate of non-acceptance (finished reading ? ) - so once again the question to the publisher @Migros-Cumulus: Why on earth don't you issue prepaid cards? Wouldn't that be the most obvious thing - to give non-millionaires the opportunity to receive double Cumulus points for at least a year?

Yes, I have read the entire article. I limited my answer to one statement because I could only say something about it. Since Migros Bank itself does not check the applications for credit cards, but Viseca does, the assets held by the bank cannot be checked either. As far as I know, assets are also not relevant when checking credit card applications. And yes, I would also very much welcome a low-cost prepaid version and think it's a shame that Migros Bank doesn't offer this with the Cumulus credit card (a glaring disadvantage in contrast to the Coop Supercard credit card [TopCard/UBS]).

Thank you for your answer - the division of labor between Migros Bank and VISECA also explains the somewhat strange situation of the first forum member. Unfortunately, the Coop Prepaid TopCard is also not cheap if you consider the top-up fees, which amount to 1% of the top-up amount, i.e. at 12000CHF/year, the top-up fee is 120 CHF. https://www.coop.ch/content/dam/free/PDFs/FACTSHEET_SUCA_KREDIT_PREPAIDKARTE_D_Web.pdf

That's why it would only be right for Migros Bank to offer a prepaid version of the Cumulus credit card. After all, the bank prides itself on waiving some of the fees charged by other providers. If they were to completely waive the top-up fee for the Cumulus prepaid, they would be pretty much the only provider in this area and thus have a clear advantage. It is a real shame that this offer is not made - and also surprising considering how progressive this credit card actually is (keyword: application in the app, which is checked immediately).

Hello @meyrob Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry we weren't able to convince you with the new Cumulus credit card. We do not receive any data from Cembra Money Bank and have no insight into the payment behavior of customers from previous years. The order for the new Cumulus credit card is a new application and all customers who wish to use the offer will be assessed on the basis of their details. We have to ask all these questions for legal reasons (Consumer Credit Act). Even if you have deposited XY assets at Migros Bank, we still need to have the questions answered by you, as this is a different transaction. Best regards and thank you for your understanding. Sebastian

The following scenario is conceivable: applied for the Cembra card at the time - received without further ado (sufficient income to pay into pension 3A and pay off the mortgage, among other things) Now the Migros card - but in the meantime: 1. high liquidity due to saved pension 3A funds 2. mortgage on residential property now fully paid off 3. much lower income due to retirement.
Rejection is very likely in this case (Migrosbank does not know whether you are over-indebted or have high liquidity, as income is the decisive criterion). If you are already a Migrosbank customer, you could possibly be approved for the Visa Free card, as the bank is aware of your other financial circumstances.
