Organic vinegars are now only available in plastic bottles. Not good for the flavor, very bad for the environment. And you know that plastic particles dissolve and end up in the food. Very disappointing and backward. I no longer buy vinegar at Migros.

Glass bottles are more ecological is not true for organic vinegar: the PET bottle is 16 times lighter than the glass bottle.
This leads to lower fuel consumption during transportation and thus to lower emissions of pollutants.
The switch from glass to PET has no effect on the quality of the vinegar because the PET packaging also meets all legal and Migros' own product safety requirements.
Empty organic vinegar PET bottles should be disposed of in the Migros plastic collection and not in the PET bottle collection, as vinegar residues contaminate the PET collection.

The only advantage, as Istanbul describes, is that PET bottles are easier to transport than glass bottles.
Although I personally prefer glass bottles.
If I'm not mistaken, Coop's organic apple cider vinegar is sold in a glass bottle.

Exactly. Anyone who has done a bit of research into plastic knows that the problems far outweigh the heavier transportation. Plastic is not stable and constantly releases plastic into the environment (which is why the taste evaporates, those who drink from glass bottles appreciate this point) and into the air. We also breathe in plastic vapors. Our blood, breast milk and the oceans are full of plastic microparticles and the production of plastic is irresponsible and should only take place where there is no other solution. I only buy in glass. Water, milk, oil, fruit juices and everything else you can find in glass. Fortunately, there are also producers who are increasingly opting for glass. One dairy has recently started filling milk into glass bottles and taking them back for reuse. That's great.

In organic stores you can only find these things in glass. More and more I can only shop in organic stores, with my demands for environmentally friendly production.

@Migipedia Since I can't read the MM that mentions Istanbul, I would be happy if you could explain and prove to me why his answer is declared to be the "correct solution". How many kilometers does a vinegar travel on average until it arrives at the Migros point of sale?

Hello @ivan92. I am happy to attach the screenshot of the Migros magazine article mentioned by Istanbul. Migros examined and weighed up all the facts before making the switch. We consider the switch to PET to be sensible because it is the most ecological alternative and product safety is also guaranteed in PET. Unfortunately, we can't tell you how far the bottles travel on average. However, we are saving 200 tons of packaging material by switching to PET. With this changeover, Migros is only interested in saving enormous costs at the expense of others!!!
@Daniel_Migros as you write, it is, according to the opinion you represent (or have to represent), the most ecological alternative. Are they also more ecological than glass bottles or are they simply the most ecological alternative to the much healthier glass bottles?
I think the article in the MM only pretends that the plastic bottles, which are cheaper for Migros, are better for the environment. And then Istanbul quickly comes along and helps to spread such "wisdom".
@Tanja_Migros Is his answer accepted as a solution just because it was once in the MM? If you don't even know how far a bottle travels on average, how do you even know that glass is less environmentally friendly? I understand that less fuel is needed for delivery, you can save on that, but what about production? Hopefully these bottles are made in Switzerland?
