Is there any sensible reason why organic vegetables and fruit are packaged more than normal ones? The question for me is whether I should buy organic if I'm buying plastic made from crude oil around it. I actually think that's a shame. E.g. Kohleräbli without organic no packaging organic plastic around it. Tomatoes on a stick normal, no packaging, organic wrapped in plastic AND plastic tray in packaging.

I wasn't aware that there was already a topic in the forum about the packaging of organic vegetables and I originally posted the same question about organic leeks.
I would like to refresh the topic and copy the answer from M-Infoline. Also because as a customer you could perhaps actively contribute to less packaging for organic vegetables.

We are obliged by law to separate organic products from conventionally produced goods in a clearly recognizable way at all times. This is why Migros deliberately sells the majority of its organic fruit and vegetables in packaged form. This is for the simple reason that, as a consumer, you can be sure that if it says organic on it, it is also organic.
If organic products are not packaged, there is a risk of contamination from various factors, such as other fruit or customers who touch the goods and have previously applied cream to their hands, for example. Furthermore, there is complete traceability of the packaged products.
Many people are only aware of the disadvantages of packaging, but as already mentioned, it also has significant advantages: Long-lasting freshness, help for customers with information on it (e.g. dating, origin, lot number for traceability), better protection and less contamination.
As a small example of this: An unpackaged cucumber can no longer be sold after three days, but 1.5 grams of packaging will keep it fresh and attractive for 14 days. If less of the product spoils due to the packaging, the environment is better served.

or make all packaging compostable? I find it a bit creepy when I go shopping and see how most people take a new bag for every piece of fruit. And with organic vegetables, you unfortunately have to buy the waste as well.

I also don't quite understand why you can get compostable bags at LeShop (Drive), for example, but not for fruit and vegetables in the store. You can tell me what you want, it's all about the costs.
