It would be great if Migros could offer an alternative to disposable monthly hygiene products - such as the silicone trays. Perhaps to bring the Generation M idea into this topic as well. After all, it is quite a production effort and a mountain of waste that is generated here.

Dear Migros,
I would like to ask you about the possible inclusion of this monthly alternative in the Migros feminine hygiene range.
It would be great to have a choice here too - to reduce the estimated 12,000 tampons and pads per woman's lifetime. Including the whole production and transportation process. Just as we already have this choice with organic/regional vegetables, reusable shopping bags, Fairtrade coffee, etc.

I've also heard and read about it and on the one hand it sounds practical and more environmentally friendly but on the other hand I find it pretty disgusting. Especially the boiling :-o first you boil the thing out in a pan and the next day you put spaghetti in it again *gag I feel sick* that seems a bit like my host mother in Scotland who put the toilet brush and its holder in the dishwasher with the other dishes after the weekly cleaning :-o

I see it exactly the same way. I like to live frugally and in an environmentally friendly way, but to be honest this is going too far for me. Especially the idea of cleaning the thing out again without causing a flood. Sorry for the direct choice of words :D
Oh dear, I feel a bit sorry for the men reading along here :-/
Toilet brush in the dishwasher? Oh GOD! Now I don't think I'll ever drink a coffee with someone who owns a dishwasher again :P

@Rebecca07: yes you say what I didn't dare to write ;-P... Sorry to all men... :-o I hope other people don't do that "Wc-bürsteli-in Gschirri".... Well, I have a dishwasher, but as that says, I only put dishes in it, so you can drink coffee without worrying ;-)

Hello everyone
For Migros, the introduction of this alternative menstrual hygiene (e.g. the menstrual cup) is not an issue at the moment. There are two main reasons for this:
The product is unknown to most women. It needs to be explained and advice may still be required.
We therefore currently consider the retail trade to be the wrong channel for selling this product.
In addition, the demand for such alternative products is currently too low.

Thank you for your quick reply - it's a shame, of course, that this is not possible at the moment. As you rightly say, demand is probably very low at the moment because the product is not very well known. That won't make it any easier to remedy the situation =) Perhaps at some point there will be an opportunity to raise awareness of the environment and feminine hygiene in general via Migros magazine.
@Luna L.: Sure in the spaghetti pot =) I think after 10 minutes in boiling water almost everything in there has been killed off.

@ Luna L, I would never think of doing something like that either :) You might as well "flush" your food down the toilet ...
Hmmm, until yesterday I loved spaghetti with tomato sauce more than anything... I've kind of lost it now *lol*

You can also wash your menstrual cup in the washing machine or sterilize it in the microwave in a suitable container. And you can also look for sterilization tablets in outdoor accessories.

Dear Migros, it's been more than five years since this article was published. Unbelievable how time flies.
And yes, I still use the same cup =) It seems to me that the topic of waste reduction has gained momentum and that menstrual cups are no longer as unknown as they once were. I would therefore like to ask again if you could please include them in the Migros range to make them even better known - for the sake of Generation M.
