WHY IS 90% of the vegetables in Migros stores packed in unnecessary plastic bags?! I avoid plastic as much as possible! And with fresh produce it would be sooo easy! I refuse to buy these unnecessarily packaged products and wish for more open fresh!!! It is also incomprehensible and unpeaktisch that many products are pre-portioned!
Unfortunately, it's not just organic products that are packaged in plastic.
It makes sense to me why Migros and other stores have to label organic products specially. However, I find it questionable that they have to solve the problem of confusion with plastic packaging. A small sticker is enough for lemons.
However, I find it very questionable that not only organic cucumbers, for example, are packaged in plastic, but also ordinary ones. The organic cucumbers simply have an additional organic sticker on them. Why can't this sticker be stuck directly onto the cucumber?
The only unpackaged cucumber is the "Nostrano" variety. Unfortunately, it is almost three times as expensive as a normal one and is therefore beyond the student budget...
... and once again Migros & Co. are hiding behind legal regulations instead of taking action themselves and changing things for the better. I can only shake my head at such a passive, bored attitude. Finally get things moving, because you have weight!
I agree 100% with the previous speaker! We should actually be trying to use less plastic, but instead I have the impression that we are using more and more. More and more food is being packaged in plastic, more and more "convenience" products are coming onto the market. Allegedly because nobody has time to cook these days. I think it's more because consumers are being encouraged to buy convenience instead of fresh produce. I've long since stopped enjoying shopping when I see how much plastic I have in my shopping basket, even though I try to buy goods with as little packaging as possible. Our Migros recently got a "Daily" corner. I could really cry when I saw all the things packed in plastic. Two apples packed in hard plastic?!?!? Isn't that madness? Why can't you put a sticker on it saying "unit price" and then you just buy an apple for X francs instead of weighing it? So that it's (supposedly) quicker. I really wonder where all this plastic waste is going. In Geneva, only PET is recycled, everything else ends up in normal household waste.

This year we will double the number of unpackaged organic vegetables and fruit. Some will remain packaged, for example lettuce or cucumbers, because they stay fresh for longer and we avoid food waste.
