How come the animal welfare rating is worse here than for Swiss organic eggs?
Hello AKGenf, thank you for your inquiry. The M-Check animal welfare rating is based on assessments in nine areas, with individual criteria varying depending on the species.
The calculation is based on the production guidelines of the individual labels or production systems.
The EU organic guidelines serve as the basis for the specified product. Our organic eggs from Switzerland are based on the Bio Suisse guidelines. As the EU organic guidelines are less strict than the Bio Suisse guidelines, the M-Check also scores lower.
Further information on the criteria and ratings for the M-Check animal welfare eggs can be found here: https://www.migros.ch/de/content/m-check-tierwohl-eier. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
