When will there be normal-sized onions again that are about the size of a tennis ball? At the moment there are only very small ones everywhere that can be classified as mini golf balls.
I think that depends on the harvest. Fortunately, onions are still a natural product!
Hello rollimaus, thank you for your inquiry. We are sorry that the size is currently smaller than usual. Greenmaid83 is right in her statement: onions are natural products, which is why there can be harvest-related fluctuations. The current caliber is due to the hot and very dry summer. Unfortunately, this circumstance cannot be influenced. We hope for better conditions next year. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

That onions are natural products that come in different sizes. My question was/is "When will there be normal sized onions again, which will be about the size of a tennis ball"? Thank you
Tennis ball? Are you looking for the milder vegetable onions, which are a special variety?
Hello rollimaus, thank you for your feedback. Larger onions (butcher's onions) should also be available in the stores at the moment. These are about the size of tennis balls. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Why don't you indicate where your products come from?
Hello LaPlaine, thank you for your request. The origin should always be indicated on the product. If this information is missing, please let us know the batch number so that we can check the origin of the product. With best regards, your M-Infoline team

Why are there no questions in French?
Good evening Nathalieandpilou Because no one has asked a question yet. Are apparently happy with onions, like my environment. Best regards Frederica

I buy a single onion each time I need a new one. How long can you keep a whole onion before it breaks?
Hello High-Heels-Tusserich,A? or shallot would not last long in my house? Onions like it cool, dark and dry and should not be kept in the fridge. They keep best in a dark, cool and dry cellar, where they can last up to six months. In the home, they are best stored in a storage cupboard (Khuhhikhäschtli). There they will keep for up to six weeks if it is reasonably cool, dry and above all dark, provided the onions are not exposed to direct sunlight. Never pack onions in plastic bags, as they will sweat in them and then rot. It is better to use a net, basket or even loose so that they can breathe. Cut onions are an exception. These are best placed cut-side down in a sealable plastic container, which should also be sealed airtight. Best wishes and have a nice first weekend in November Frederica
Hello High-Heels-Tusserich, thank you for your inquiry. How long an onion lasts depends on how it is stored. In most households, onions are stored in the kitchen. In a warm and humid kitchen, however, the shelf life of onions is limited to one to two weeks. Then the bulbs either start to sprout or rot. Stored correctly, e.g. in a dark and cool cellar, you can keep the vegetable for up to six months. However, not all onions are the same. The variety also has an influence on the shelf life. Onions that are harvested in spring or summer are less suitable for storage. These varieties are best eaten soon after harvesting. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

i like to buy the red onions in "net bags". it's just a pity that almost always some of the onions are already rotting and you can rarely use them all. it would be great if you could buy them open or something similar. it's a shame if you have to compost some from the start.
Hello guest
Thank you for your feedback. The cooperatives procure our onions regionally. Can you tell us which Migros you usually buy from? Then we can forward your letter to the right place.
Kind regards from the M-Infoline team

Unfortunately, I find that the quality of onions varies greatly.
Especially the curious circumstance that the organic onions are sometimes huge or very small, and these so-called organic onions are currently being imported from Holland.
Here in Switzerland we have onions all year round! So importing them would be completely unnecessary.
Hello guest
If a product is in season in Switzerland and there is enough local produce available, we source our products from Switzerland. It is not without reason that Migros is an important partner of Swiss agriculture and also endeavors to ensure that the entire domestic production can be marketed.
The 2010 harvest of conventional and organic onions has been used up. A new 2011 harvest should be available again from mid-June, until then we will compensate with imported goods. We would like to inform you that all products that reach the Migros shelves are checked for quality in advance and those that do not meet the requirements will not be sold. Unfortunately, however, it can happen from time to time that, despite the strict controls, products that do not meet our high standards end up in the stores.
If you are not satisfied with a product in the future, please report this directly to the store so that it can be dealt with locally and you can be offered a replacement if necessary.
