Is this separating fleece water-permeable and suitable for the drainage of green roofs?
Hi Jetemi_70 The separating fleece plays an important role in stabilizing the soil for paving terraces and paths. Here is some relevant information. Function of the separation fleece: The separation fleece prevents weeds and other plants from growing through the paving stones. It protects the soil from erosion and prevents the stones from sinking over time. Due to its air and water-permeable properties, it enables efficient drainage and prevents the formation of puddles on the surface.
Reduce undermining: The separating fleece helps to minimize undermining. It prevents the soil under the paving stones from being washed away, which could affect the stability of the surface. Not suitable for planting: The separating fleece is not intended for planting. It is specially designed for use under paving stones and should not be covered with soil. Thank you for your reply, we (unfortunately) didn't wait for it and wanted to complete the project (small green roof, less than 1 m2 and 19 cm high) on Saturday. We then tested whether the fleece is water-permeable and it is. Now we have mixed 2/3 lava earth with 1/3 soil and used it for this (including dimpled foil under the fleece, a drainage on the outside. After the heavy rainfall of the last few days, this has worked. Do you still recommend that we clear out the bed again and use a different fleece? Kind regards
Hello Jetemi_70 Thank you for your letter. We are pleased to hear that your green roof project was successful and that the drainage system worked well. As the fleece you used is water-permeable and the plants are growing well, we see no reason why you should replace it. We will be happy to provide you with further information.
