Hi Hector112 Found this: Simply weigh your fruits and vegetables without a bag and then pack them in a Veggie Bag, even with other varieties. You can stick the price tag on the piece of fabric sewn to the bag. The bags can be machine-washed at 30°C without any problems . Best regardsFrederica

Thanks, I'll give it a try, but with several labels, I'm thinking small problems.

Hello Hector112. Thank you for your message. When the bag contains only one kind of fruit and/or vegetable, the goods can be weighed in the bag or in bulk. If the customer wishes to fill the Veggie Bag with several types of fruit and vegetables, each type must be weighed without the bag. The customer must then affix the labels to the bag. Dear Migros Is there already a solution regarding the tare button? Being environmentally friendly and always paying for it is no fun. A bowl on the scales would also be great! You don't have to reinvent the wheel. Everything already exists😉

Hello Moneypenni, thank you for your message. We don't have a suitable solution at the moment. It's best to put the products on the scales without the veggie bag and then pack them. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

By the way, dear Migros Coop has managed to fit trays on the scales. Doesn't seem to be a big deal😉

Hello dear Migros team Is it possible to improve the closure of the veggie bags? The buttoning is extremely tedious. My suggestion: a zipper closure or cord lock stopper. These would also be washable. Thank you very much for your feedback and hopefully improving the bags. Best regards

Hi Alesssaandraaa, thank you very much for your input. No changes to the veggie bag are planned at the moment. However, we are happy to take your request on board and have informed the relevant specialist department. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Dear Migros team The Veggie Bags are made of 100% polyester. This is a synthetic material. If you wash the bags, small parts can come loose over time, e.g. if there are tears. What exactly is the advantage of these plastic bags over the normal plastic bags, apart from the fact that you can't wash them? A washable natural material such as cotton would be better, but then you would have to make larger meshes so that you can see the contents and weigh them without the bags. For me, the veggie bags currently on offer are therefore not a real alternative. It would be great if Migros would consider a different material...

Hello country_girl, thank you very much for your input. We opted for a material made from 100% non-toxic polyester as the following criteria were important to us when making our selection: Transparency, washability, label adhesion, durability and price. The veggie bags need to be transparent so that checkout staff can easily see the contents without opening the bag. This is guaranteed with the polyester bag. In addition, life cycle assessments show that bags made of cotton are no more ecological than those made of plastic, due in particular to the fact that cotton bags are much heavier and more material-intensive than plastic alternatives. However, we have shared your suggestion of larger meshes with our specialist department, which will review it if possible. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

For the open sale of fruit and vegetables, there used to be paper bags instead of plastic bags. Why are these no longer available? Greetings Michael

Hello As part of a student research project, I am investigating the textile chain (from raw material extraction to disposal) of such a veggie bag. You would be very helpful if you could answer the following questions: - Are these veggie bags produced in China by a state-approved company? - Are all the production steps from A to Z carried out by the same company? - If not: - Where is the synthetic fabric produced? - Where is a veggie bag sewn? - What means of transport is used to bring a veggie bag to Switzerland? - Has the possibility of bringing a veggie bag produced in Switzerland with sustainable materials onto the market been examined? If so, what are the arguments against it? Thank you very much for your answer! Kind regards

Hello I would like to hear your opinion on the purpose of these bags. Actually, the idea is great! I just think it's a shame that the bags were not introduced for ecological reasons, but for economic and PR purposes! If the bags were for a good, ecological conscience, they would be made from recyclable material produced in Switzerland! What's more, the price is completely exorbitant! Many more people would use the reusable bags if they were cheaper! From a third of the price, the material costs would be covered, and you would also save on the free bags, as fewer would have to be used!

Hello kuse84, thank you very much for your feedback. When selecting our veggie bags, we focused on the requirements for transparency, tear resistance and label adhesion. We looked at options in Europe - but China was unbeatable in terms of quality, quantity and product expertise. In addition, the production, personnel and transportation costs in Switzerland are high, which would lead to a higher sales price. After the launch, the bags performed much better than expected. Due to the higher sales volumes, we were able to achieve further optimizations in the value chain and reduce the sales price. With very low prices, there is a risk that our customers will buy the veggie bags too often - a bag must be reused at least 6 times to have a lower environmental impact than a disposable plastic bag. The relevant specialist department has been informed of your message. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

How many grams does a veggie bag weigh? Is this weight taken into account at the checkout in favor of the shopper?

Hello renisch, thank you for your post. A veggie bag weighs 7 grams. If only one type of fruit/vegetable is placed in the veggie bag, the goods can be weighed in the bag or loose. If you want to fill the Veggie Bag with different varieties, each variety must be weighed without the bag and the labels then attached to the bag. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I think it's a shame that the veggie bags aren't positioned more prominently, e.g. right next to the scales or next to the plastic bag rolls. When I look around, only a very small percentage of customers use them. And why not be consistent and ban plastic bags altogether, that would be much braver! And join forces with the competition so that they do the same. Then the argument that customers won't come back (which would surprise me) won't count either.

Hi alalea, thanks for your post. There are no guidelines as to where and how the veggie bags are presented. This is up to each store. Due to the comparatively low ecological relevance, we do not want to and cannot ban plastic bags in the fruit and vegetable department and ban them from the stores. In addition, the thin bags are considered essential for weighing and transporting fruit/vegetables by a large proportion of customers and help to avoid material-intensive pre-packaging. Nevertheless, consumers are of course free to choose not to use these bags. We cannot influence the offers of our competitors. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
