Remember the plastic packaging? That's the stupid thing about plastic: plastic is not biodegradable. It breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces and does so very slowly. If a plastic bottle is carelessly thrown away, it can take up to 450 years for it to decompose into tiny pieces. Plastics contain chemical additives that are released during decomposition.
Hello FerreroRocher, thank you for your contribution. In order to find the most environmentally friendly packaging, we calculate life cycle assessments for various packaging solutions. These show us the environmental impact of a packaging (or product) over its entire life cycle. Life cycle assessments are also informative when it comes to comparing paper and plastic, for example. Of course, one kilogram of paper is more environmentally friendly than one kilogram of plastic. But the fact is that it usually takes a lot more paper to package a product: the life cycle assessment of plastic is often better.
A systematic and comprehensive switch to cardboard or paper would therefore not make ecological sense.
You can find out more about what makes good packaging on our website:https://www.migros.ch/de/content/online-shop-sustainability-plastik

you're right, but why can't you just sell without packaging? that would be cheaper for you too.
Everyone would just take a cloth bag (or another bag) from home. But you're right, it takes a lot more paper. Best regards FerreroRocher
Hello FerreroRocher, at Migros many breads can also be purchased without bags, especially in our stores with their own in-house bakeries. Migros also welcomes customers bringing their own cloth bags. However, many Migros customers prefer to buy their bread packaged in bread bags - also for hygiene reasons. We try to take all customer needs into account as far as possible. Nevertheless, we are very pleased that you are concerned about environmentally conscious packaging and means of transportation for the food you buy. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Thanks for the answer, you are right

Dear Migipedia team, does the product contain alcohol in any way? For example, as a flavoring or carrier? Does it contain animal fats or other animal ingredients? Does it come into contact with animal ingredients or alcohol (cross-contamination)?
Hello Acalyanur, thank you for your question. No animal slaughter fats or additives derived from animal fats are used in the bread products of our own industry (JOWA AG). In JOWA products, we generally use emulsifiers, fats, oils and glycerine of vegetable origin. Animal ingredients (e.g. milk, eggs, butter, cheese, meat, gelatine) are always declared accordingly. These products also contain no ingredients from pigs that are not immediately obvious. However, alcohol as a carry-over (transfer of an additive from a raw material into the finished product) cannot be ruled out for individual raw materials. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello M-Infoline team, thank you for your reply. Can you please provide more information regarding alcohol? What do you mean by carry over? And can't this be found out for the only products (individual bread variants)? Is there alcohol in this bread variant now? Also, shouldn't it say on the back of the products "May contain.... alcohol" ?
May I ask what you always ask about alcohol? What is it for you?
I would also be interested in that.

There are always people that a "mythical creature" does its things, I suspect that this one and the Fazi, whatever his name is, are the same person.
Hello Acalyanur, thank you for your question. According to the provisions of Swiss food legislation, the addition of alcohol (in the form of wine, schnapps, etc.) must be declared in the list of ingredients. Alcohol is not declared as an ingredient in products that naturally contain alcohol. For foods and beverages that contain more than 0.5% alcohol by mass or volume, Migros voluntarily prints the words "contains alcohol". Carry over refers to the transfer of very small quantities of alcohol-containing additives and carriers from the raw materials into the end product. This cannot be completely ruled out. However, the possible entry is too small to measure. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
If you like it, you like to eat it, but there are plenty of other varieties to choose from.

When I search for Ticino bread, there are two to choose from. Are they the same products? If so, why do they appear twice?
Hello indios, thank you for your question. The "Fresh and handmade" Ticino bread is the item that is made in the in-house bakeries. The other product is a so-called bake-off item, which is freshly baked in the ovens in the stores - but is not made by hand from scratch there. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
