The lid is gold-colored and uniform, the tin wall and base are silver-colored, but spotted.
A stained color indicates a reaction with the pineapple acid and detachment of the tin. All cans are affected, see insert.
It is known that discoloration of a tin coating indicates an acid reaction and can be hazardous to health.

Hello Civitas, thank you for your message and the detailed description. We understand your concern about the discoloration. This is a known phenomenon with cans caused by the release of tin. As long as the tin content remains below the limit of 200 ppm, there is no health risk. We use tinplate that is suitable for food packaging and regularly check the nitrate content of incoming pineapple fruit. We recommend transferring the contents to a non-metallic container after opening.
Based on our review, the observed discoloration and staining are natural phenomena of the can packaging as we do not use painted cans. In order to conduct more specific investigations, we need the lot numbers (found on the bottom of the can), the exact time of discovery of the stains (did you notice the stains immediately or later) and the storage conditions. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Thank you very much for your answer. I have now found pineapple in a jar from Alnatura and will buy this in future. There are no stained surfaces. This is because changes to the surface of a stained tin can cannot be detected visually.
