Why is the Migros Chinotto no longer available in glass bottles? In the glass bottle, the carbonation lasted longer and was slightly less sweet than the San Pellegrino Chinò. But there are a hundred other strange drinks on sale, so there would still have been room for Migros Chinotto in the range.

Hello LaMaggiore, thank you for your contribution. Unfortunately, we have removed this drink from our range due to a lack of demand. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Migros' answer to this question does not seem conclusive or sincere to me. The Ticino product had been in the range for decades and had a stable customer base. Then Migros also introduced the Nestlé product "Chinò" in a plastic bottle from Italy, thus competing with the local product on its shelves in favor of the global corporation from Vevey. Naturally, this meant that sales of the Swiss product, which is far more sustainable than the Italian one (glass instead of plastic, transportation from Ticino by train instead of by truck from the Bergamo area), suffered. The Swiss product had a practically unlimited shelf life; Chinò plastic bottles allow CO2 to diffuse; they then shrink during longer storage and lose their good taste. This example is part of the trend of COOP-ization of Migros on the part of the management, which I can really only imagine is due to corruption on the part of the world trusts. Another example is the introduction of Lindt chocolate, which reduces and competes with the excellent Frey chocolate. I have reacted in accordance with the market rules: I have been keeping two shopping lists for some time now. The first is for ALDI Suisse; everything I find there is bought there. I only go to Migros to cover needs that I can't find at ALDI. You have to punish the Migros managers by reducing your own sales at Migros. I've also bought a Migros credit card to pay at ALDI, so Migros can still give me Cumulus points on Aldi purchases. As ALDI is also considerably cheaper than Migros, I benefit twice over.

Hello Tandem, we are sorry that our answer does not seem conclusive or sincere to you. We are therefore happy to take a stand. Glass is made from sand and lime and is easy to recycle. However, a lot of energy is needed to produce and recycle glass - especially for melting it down. This energy, in turn, requires crude oil. In addition, glass bottles, for example, are many times heavier than plastic bottles. In addition to the higher material consumption, this also has ecological disadvantages during transportation, as more fuel is used than for lightweight plastic bottles. From an ecological point of view, this means that the environmental impact of plastic bottles is usually much lower than that of glass bottles due to the significantly lower material consumption. Regarding Lindt chocolate: Lindt chocolates are very popular in Switzerland and are an ideal addition to our already excellent range of chocolates. At Migros, customers therefore have access to the largest and most varied range of chocolates in Switzerland. And it's great that you're using the Cumulus credit card - that makes us very happy. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
