I am looking for bacon cubes that are completely free of traces of gluten for someone with zoeliac disease. Are these bacon cubes free from cross-contamination? Are products with gluten also processed? Can there be carry-over?
Hello PatrickHa, you can use these bacon cubes without any problems. They do not contain any gluten-containing ingredients, nor should any carry-over be expected. A tip: if a product contains gluten-containing ingredients, this must be openly declared, stating the gluten-containing cereals (wheat, spelt, rye, barley, etc.). In addition, gluten-containing ingredients must be highlighted in the list of ingredients, for example in bold print or with capital letters (examples: wheat starch, WHEAT flour). Therefore: Pay attention to the list of ingredients! Traces due to possible carry-over in the manufacturing process must be indicated at the end of the list of ingredients with a "may contain" note ("may contain gluten" or "may contain traces of gluten").
