Does it really have to be in February? And then from Mexico?
Hi indios, thank you for your message. In Switzerland, the area under asparagus cultivation is relatively small and agriculture is nowhere near able to cover the quantities required. Migros therefore has to switch to other countries. The import of green asparagus from overseas lasts from mid-January to around the end of March. From this time, when the asparagus are growing in Europe, we source them from Europe. We have these goods transported to Switzerland by truck. In addition, fruit and vegetables, which by definition are not seasonal, can contribute to maintaining good health as part of a balanced diet. We have gladly submitted your feedback to the responsible department. Hopefully we were able to help you with our response. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Lots of excuses again. Offering asparagus in February is just complete madness. It's winter and there's still a long way to go.

Sustainability just a promise? Anyone who buys asparagus at this time of year is buying it from Africa or Mexico. Where has the idea of sustainability gone? I can definitely wait for the Swiss asparagus in May.
I'd love to... where is the sustainability in eating avocado or bananas that are also imported from the other side of the world?
Hello Urson, thank you for your message. We understand your displeasure and your desire to find seasonal Swiss products on the shelves. It is also very important to us to offer our customers as wide a variety of local fruit and vegetables as possible. It is not without reason that we are an important partner of Swiss agriculture. For this reason, we source our produce domestically, provided that it is in season in Switzerland and that sufficient quantities are available from local cultivation. In this context, we source an average of 70 percent of our vegetables from Swiss farmers. We source 30 percent of our fruit from here. Of course, we would like to offer even more fresh products from Switzerland. But local farmers cannot meet the domestic demand for many products. That's why we rely on imports. We are aware that there are people who consider the import of fresh produce to be unnecessary. For many, however, they are still important. We provide information about the origin so that you can decide for yourself which products you want to buy and which not. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Is it really necessary that there are asparagus on the shelves again? Seen today. Asparagus from Mexico. It's January 30th and it's winter!
Asparagus in winter? About the same crap as strawberries now. And don't come up with the excuse "requested by the customer"! Winter vegetables are in season now, but you can't even find them in Migros.

When can I expect an answer?
There are no more asparagus in Migros Wil (everything was empty this morning - as were other racks!!) - but here it says in the availability section that there are still some available. As the availability information has been completely unreliable for many months - when will asparagus really be available again in 9500 Wil?

Unbelievable, today in Migros Wil. It's winter, February 1st!
Dear Migros I've been looking for green asparagus from Switzerland in my MMM Regensdorf branch for a few weeks now, but unfortunately I can only find asparagus from abroad. Why don't you offer Swiss asparagus now, in April? Or are they simply always sold out?
I was astonished to see that in February green asparagus from Peru !!! is offered in Saas Fee Migros. I always thought that asparagus should be consumed seasonally and as fresh as possible (regional production). What is Migros thinking? How can this be ecologically justified? It's really nonsense to offer such a thing.
Hi Cumulussi, thank you for your feedback. We import green asparagus from overseas from mid-January to around the end of March. We always source our fruit and vegetables from the geographically closest destination. As long as there is enough produce in Switzerland, we prefer it. We declare clearly so that everyone can decide for themselves what to buy. However, you will have to wait until the end of March for Swiss asparagus. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
I think Cumulussi thinks that you shouldn't offer asparagus at all now. Because I think so too!!!
It's the same every year. The climate offenders asparagus and strawberries. Cumulussi Publishing the article once would have been enough 🤷🏻♀️↵

Today in 9500 Wil: green asparagus from Mexico!!! Still going????
Hello indios, thank you for your message. We import green asparagus from overseas from mid-January to around the end of March. This is because asparagus is only available in Europe from this time onwards. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
It's still winter!
Indios you are extremely exhausting. Stop commenting negatively on every possible post!!! If you like Lidl and Aldi so much don't go to Migros anymore!!!
I'm not talking about Aldi and Lidl
most of the vegetables at lidl and Aldi also come from Spain etc. Why don't you have vegetables from DE? That would be even closer and at least taste like something😉
Hello Yve80, thank you for your inquiry. As you can see from our article above, we try to source our fresh produce from the geographically closest destination. Depending on the product, availability can be a challenge. For this reason, when choosing a supplier, we also take into account the quantity in which they can provide us with the food, in addition to numerous other criteria. Of course, it is not our wish that the items from Spain do not taste as delicious as those from Germany :-). Are you referring to a specific vegetable or is it more of a general observation? Couldn't find any 🇨🇭Spargel at all this year, neither green nor white. Why? The season would be now?
Hello Rottenmeier4, thank you for your post. In Switzerland, the area under asparagus cultivation is relatively small and agriculture is nowhere near able to cover the quantities required. We therefore also switch to other countries of origin. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
But Germany would be closer?!?!
Hello Yve80, thank you for your inquiry. Germany would be closer, this is correct. However, it does not offer the possibility of accessing the desired quantities. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
