Why are the snack gherkins in the "Zurich - Main Station" branch not sold chilled? The cucumbers don't look very good even before you buy them. They are also chilled in the other Migros stores. Could you pass this on to the store? Would be super kind

Hello Romanista96, thank you for your message via Migipedia. So that we can forward your message to the responsible sales outlet, we would need to know which branch at the main station you are referring to? Thank you very much for your feedback. Kind regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello Romanista96, thank you very much for your message and your interest in our products. In general, snack cucumbers are not a product that needs to be kept in a cooler. As the snack cucumbers sell very well in the Migros main station, we have decided to place them in a more accessible location. We will continue to keep an eye on the quality of the product. Kind regards, your M-Infoline team

Dear Migros: could you change the packaging? Preferably without any, or at least just a small plastic bag or even a paper-plastic combination? That would be great!

Hello VrenelivomGuggisberg, thank you very much for your input. This item is available regionally. Could you tell us where you usually shop? We will then be happy to pass on your request to the relevant cooperative. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello VrenelivomGuggisberg, thank you very much for your suggestion. It has taken some time to clarify your request. We are sorry that we are only getting back to you now. We understand your wish for less material. We are also very concerned about this issue. It is not without reason that a team of specialists is working on the reduction and optimization of packaging on a daily basis. It is important to note that the latter is not unnecessary. They should: - protect the product (longer shelf life and hygiene) - provide information (origin, ingredients, price, best-before date, etc. - at Migros, this should be in three languages where possible) - be easy to transport and stack (so that we need as few trucks as possible for transportation) - be as environmentally friendly and recyclable as possible We draw up life cycle assessments so that we know what impact our packaging has on the environment. These take into account the effects from the extraction of raw materials to the disposal of the packaging. They show that, viewed over the entire product life cycle, packaging contributes very little (around 2 to 5 %) to the environmental impact. The product itself has the greatest impact. Food that has spoiled due to a lack of protection, for example, has a much greater impact on the environment than its packaging. Avoiding food loss is just as important to us. However, the results regarding paper and plastic bags are clear: in Switzerland, the plastic version is better from an environmental point of view because a paper bag usually requires much more paper. We currently see great potential in the area of organic plastic. The producer makes this from organic waste. This promises a significantly lower environmental impact than conventional materials and, unlike other biodegradable materials, does not compete with food production. Another priority is the increasing use of recycled material. Many trays in the fruit and vegetable department already contain a proportion of recycled PET. This proportion is set to increase further. Improvements are possible and necessary, particularly in the area of sustainability. We are aware of this and are working on it. Depending on the product, the solution cannot be implemented overnight. We therefore ask for your patience. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
