Was this beef also treated with hormones? "Migros states that the quantity of goods in which hormones may have been used is less than 0.5 percent. Beef is imported from the USA and Australia because there has been a constant demand for US beef for years. The meat is declared as "may have been produced with hormones as performance enhancers". "The consumer is therefore made aware of this fact and always has the freedom of choice," said a spokeswoman." http://www.20min.ch/finance/news/story/So-tierfreundlich-ist-der-Schweizer-Detailhandel-17929641

Dear ivan92, please excuse that we are only replying to you today. Meat from abroad must be labeled in accordance with the Agricultural Declaration Ordinance (LDV; SR 916.51) if the local legislation permits production practices that are prohibited in Switzerland. Since the use of performance enhancers is not banned in the United States, the above-mentioned label must therefore be declared. It is therefore possible that the beef fillet mentioned was produced with hormonal performance enhancers. However, we are working on only offering meat that has been produced in accordance with Swiss animal welfare standards in future. This will also exclude the use of hormones in US beef in future. Kind regards, your M-Infoline team
