Why is the price of this product continuing to rise? A year ago, the price per kilo was CHF 21.50. This year there have already been 3 price increases and now it is CHF 28.50. That is an increase of over 30%. How is this justified? Who receives the additional income? Migros or the producer?
Hello Preisentwicklung2023, thank you for the question. Prices are only increased when it is absolutely unavoidable. Migros always fights for the best price-performance ratio and continues to reduce prices wherever possible. Prices in the procurement market for raw materials, packaging materials and production costs have been rising for a good year now. Electricity and gas prices in particular have risen dramatically, and these increased energy costs make transportation and the manufacture of almost all products more expensive. Migros is forced to pass on some of these additional costs to its customers. At the same time, however, we have also been able to make savings across the entire value chain. These savings cushion the price increases or we can pass them on to our customers in the form of lower prices for individual items/product ranges. The period of validity of the new prices depends in particular on further price developments in procurement and production. As soon as prices on the procurement markets ease, we will also reduce prices for our customers at the first opportunity. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Does this cheese contain an egg-white preservative or additives (this is unfortunately common in some Manchego cheese production...)? Thank you for your interest!
Lysozyme is a food additive used as a preservative and as an enzyme, and can be found in the list of ingredients under the name lysozyme (based on egg white) or under the name E 1105.
Hello LauKuh, thank you for your inquiry. The in-depth investigations we carried out with our specialist department took some time, and we're sorry to be contacting you only now. We are pleased to inform you of the results of our investigations: Based on our supplier's specification, we can inform you that there is no egg-based preservative in this cheese. The presence of additives (E153 and E160b) in trace quantities is mentioned in the rind, and the rind of this cheese is considered inedible. We hope you find this information useful. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Is Manchego rind edible?
Hello Ist_Rinde_essbar, unless it is stated on the packaging that the cheese rind is made of plastic, kerosene or wax or has been specially treated, the cheese rind is in principle edible. However, as undesirable microorganisms can colonize the surface, people with a weakened immune system, pregnant women, small children and older people in particular should not eat the rind as a precaution. This applies not only to the Manchego you mentioned, but to extra-hard, hard and semi-hard cheeses in general. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
