Is this lamp battery-powered or does it need to be connected to the mains?

The office desk lamp does not have a rechargeable battery and must therefore always be connected to the power supply. We hope this helps you!

In RMBr's review, I read that the lamp hums extremely annoyingly when it is switched off. Is this generally the case or was it an isolated incident -- and therefore a warranty case?
