Dear Migros Thank you for your commitment! I think it's brilliant! One question: the online newspaper infosperber ch wrote an article today, 21.1.24, about the plastic waste that is now piling up in Myanmar - do you have any information about this and can you make sure that Swiss waste doesn't end up there? Enclosed are two more pictures, source: https://www.frontiermyanmar.net/en/hard-to-breathe-myanmar-communities-forced-to-live-among-worlds-trash/ Link to the Infosperber article: https://www.infosperber.ch/politik/welt/muellberge-aus-dem-ausland-stapeln-sich-in-myanmar/
Hello ManfredT, thank you for your inquiry. The plastic that our customers bring back in their collection bags is sorted near the Swiss border in Austria and then processed into high-quality plastic regranulates by our partner InnoPlastics AG in Switzerland. InnoRecycling AG is a company from Eastern Switzerland that is a leader in the field of plastics recycling throughout Switzerland. Among other things, they recycle and dispose of plastics for Swiss companies and industrial enterprises. Our collected plastic therefore does not end up in Myanmar, but is recycled. At present, the regranulate is used to produce detergent packaging for our "Potz" and "Migros Plus" brands. Most of the recycled material that cannot yet be used for packaging is used to make sewer pipes. You can find lots more information here: https://corporate.migros.ch/de/nachhaltigkeit/recycling/unsere-fortschritte/verpackungen-aus-rezyklierten-materialien.html. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
