Why are there so many food additives that we should avoid?
It tastes good, but the ingredients in this product make you not want to eat it again. Glycerol (E422) from GMOs: in high doses, this additive could cause nausea, migraines, high blood pressure, etc., and fatty acid mono- and diglycerides (E471) increase the size of the liver and kidneys, etc. Personally, I’m going to avoid this kind of ultra-processed food.
Hello Nath747, unfortunately, we don’t understand the connection between glycerin and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The industrial nature of food production and the requirements for quality, safety, and shelf life often necessitate the use of additives. This also applies to Migros products such as gluten-free tortillas. Without stabilizers or emulsifiers, it is unfortunately not possible to produce a gluten-free tortilla of equivalent quality. However, when it comes to the use of additives, Migros follows the principle of “as much as necessary, as little as possible.”
From a legal standpoint, the guidelines of the Swiss Confederation—which is responsible for risk assessment and the evaluation of additives—are decisive for Migros. The Additives Ordinance governs the admissibility of various substances and lists their areas of application and maximum quantities. Switzerland coordinates its decisions with international authorities. Should the federal government adjust its recommendations regarding the use of additives such as glycerin or fatty acid mono- and diglycerides, Migros would of course comply. Based on the current assessment of the situation, there is no need to discontinue their use.

The tortillas have a very slight smell of mould. The best-before date is 2024 and the appearance shows no mold. Is this normal?
Hello Romain9494, could you please let us know the batch number and minimum durability date? Best regards, your M-Infoline team
