The instructions say: do not place directly under a thermostat. Is this because the heat from the appliance can influence the thermostat setting, or could the steam damage the thermostat contacts?

The 35 ml tank of my mosquito repellent is empty except for a small amount of sediment, the four-stage display on the back of the device is flashing on the first stage. I have now bought a 33 ml replacement tank and screwed it in. This can't really be screwed in tightly and is very loose (unlike the empty tank). The display still flashes on the first stage. Is there something wrong with the appliance or the refill tank? Have I bought the wrong tank? Thank you very much for your reply.
