We made the chicken yesterday. The question came up: Can you put the chicken in the oven with the chicken thigh fastening ropes or do you have to remove them? I always removed them because I thought they were made of plastic. As a result, the chicken usually spreads its legs obscenely during the baking process in the oven, but that didn't bother me. The question is meant humorously, but it would be good to know whether the rope can be heated as well.
Hello jambo2013, thank you for your question. We are happy to inform you that the cord is ovenproof - you can safely remove it after the roasting process. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Please fonero, stop plastering Migipedia with your links. It's just annoying.

Is the poulet female or male?

Guest
Don't you buy it if it's male because you're generally anti-male?
Hello guest
Female or male chickens
Chickens are specialists. They either lay as many eggs as possible and ensure that the Swiss can be supplied with Easter and breakfast eggs, or they convert feed so that they end up on the plate as tender chicken breasts after their death. Only hens can lay eggs; the male chicks of the laying hen breeds have to be killed after hatching, for better or worse.
The problem would be solved if a so-called dual-purpose chicken could be bred: Hens and roosters would provide tender meat, and at the same time the hens would be good egg-layers. All experiments to date have shown this: A profitable dual-purpose chicken cannot be bred. At Aviforum, the competence center of the Swiss poultry industry, experiments have already been carried out in this regard. Young cockerels from selected laying hen breeds were fattened. The results are sobering: male offspring from laying hen breeds eat three times more feed than their counterparts from broiler breeds.
In addition, the young rooster of the laying hen breed takes much longer to gain a comparable weight. Because feed costs account for a large proportion of chicken production, production costs would immediately increase. Also, the rooster does not develop a well-formed and compact, but rather an elongated breast. But it is precisely this well-formed chicken breast that is the most valuable piece of meat on sale.
Long story short: our chicken is guaranteed to be female ;-)

We have been buying these chickens for years and are very satisfied.
Coop also sells designated free-range chicken.
I would also like to see this at Migros...
Hello guest
All TerraSuisse poultry products come from free-range chickens. The range includes whole chickens, mini fillets, chicken thighs and wings.

yes, i've been asking myself that for a long time. why is there no organic poulet at migros. and not selection. all other products are practically organic. just no poulet. everything is always optigal. strangely enough, there are organic poulet wings in migros! and what about the rest?!!!
Hello hoc
The authentic story that every Sélection product tells speaks in favor of Sélection in combination with organic. On the one hand, there is the high standard of a Sélection product and, on the other hand, an organic product that enjoys the value chain within Switzerland.
- Organic chicks hatch in Switzerland from Swiss eggs
- The chickens have free range on organic farms
- Tasty meat thanks to high-quality feed and harmonious development in a natural environment
The demand for organic products was still very low a few years ago, which led to devaluations of organic products. today the supply can hardly keep up with the demand. organic chicken wings are available in a cooperative at the staffed meat counter.

i still find selection as the only alternative to optigal too little. in my opinion, selection does not belong to the foodstuffs for the daily diet of an average normal consumer. and i still don't know why there are only poulet wings and where the rest of the organic chicken is ;-)
...... by the way, that was not an answer to my question, sorry
Hello guest, hello hoc
The supply of organic chicken cuts is low at the moment. As you have correctly noted, we have a whole organic chicken and an organic chicken breast in larger stores nationally. The demand for whole organic chicken is more important than organic chicken breast. Whole organic chicken is therefore increasingly being sold.
The supply of organic chicken breast (after cutting up the chicken) also results in chicken wings/legs, as well as sliced chicken. These small quantities of organic parts are sold in a cooperative at the service counter.

Why are there no organic chicken?
Thank you for your Migipedia request and your interest in organic chicken.
From our range, we can recommend the Sélection Organic Whole Chicken and the Sélection Organic Corn-fed Poulard Breast. Have fun trying them out.
