Why can't you use erytrite or xylitol as a sweetener? Sucralose, for example, also known as E 955, is a sweetener that has had to be declared as an additive in the European Union since 2004. It is also suspected that sucralose is bad for the environment, as the chemically produced sugar substitute can only be broken down slowly. The sweetener can remain in groundwater for several years and, based on American studies, is now also used as an indicator of contaminated water.

What kind of sweetener is in it - unclean declaration - I have great doubts that it is supposed to be healthy? What is this E substance and why is it needed?
Hello Baluba, all ingredients (including additives) are correctly listed in the ingredients list. Additives can be declared by their name or E number. The sweetener E 955 is sucralose. The sweetener sucralose is considered safe for normal use, food safety and regulatory authorities have repeatedly confirmed its safety, and its use in sugar-reduced products is permitted. The safety of additives is regularly reviewed so that the requirements for their use in food can be adapted to the latest scientific findings if necessary. Should the federal government adapt its recommendations on the use of sucralose, Migros will of course comply with them. According to the current assessment of the situation, it is not necessary to do without it. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Thank you for the detailed answer. But I still have a question? Why can't you use erytrite or xylitol as a sweetener? There are such and such studies on sweeteners, knowing that the critical voices often come from the sugar lobby...

Yes, we absolutely need less sugar in ready-made products, but it's not about replacing it with artificial sweeteners - if we do, then please use the healthier ones! It's not about supporting the sugar lobby, it's about healthy nutrition, the stuff has an A in the food traffic light, so you can be critical, because it's certainly not healthy! There are always several sides to consider... you have now also given me a very unprofessional answer that I can't do anything with.

Because I prefer sweeteners to sugar. But it is also clear that a low-fat quark is better. Only if you remove sugar and want to do without sweeteners, then most people won't like it.
But I don't demonize sugar per se. I think a normal healthy diet should also include a Schöggibrötli, but I don't always want to consume my calories through drinks, for example, which is why I choose Zero drinks with sweeteners. Finally, it is also sometimes beneficial for diabetics if it is artificially sweetened.

All right... then I'm definitely far too healthy for you...😅 Almost everything is too sweet for me - I hardly need any sugar, so tastes differ.

Dear Migros team I really like the taste of the product. However, I would like to ask whether the additive E955 is heated during processing or is it only added after the product has cooled down? Thank you very much for your feedback. best regards

Hello __Lu__, thank you for your request. We are very pleased that you like this pudding so much. The additive E955 is mixed with the other components and then heated together. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Ahoy I've been eating this pudding for a long time. Since this week, both the consistency and the taste have changed. Has something been changed in the recipe or production? Or do I rather hope that something has gone wrong? Unfortunately, the consistency and taste are no longer as good as before, but they are still edible.
Greetings Martin

Hello MartinF, a change was made to the manufacturing process for our "Oh! High Protein Vanilla Pudding" product in mid-March. We have tasted various retained samples from the last fillings and noticed a slight difference in texture between the previous and new technology. However, these are within the internal specifications. On the other hand, we did not notice any differences in taste or smell. It's a shame that the product no longer meets your taste. We will be happy to take your feedback on board. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I don't like it any more since the change. It's far too sweet and the nutritional values have deteriorated

Hello, I consume (should I say used to consume?..) this product regularly. However, I find it very problematic that the qty of E955 is not mentioned (or even found on the net). How can consumers be sure of staying below the 15mg/kg/day set by EFSA if it's not specified on the products they consume?
Hello PatrickS, as far as ingredient declarations are concerned, we comply with legal requirements. These do not require sweeteners to be declared in quantities. The sweetener sucralose is considered harmless under normal conditions of use, food safety and regulatory authorities have repeatedly confirmed its safety and its use in sugar-reduced products is authorized. Only minimal amounts of sucralose are used in Oh! High Protein Vanilla pudding, and we can assure you that you will not exceed the ADI for sucralose, even when consuming large quantities of pudding. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Thank you for your answer, even if it makes very little sense. Yes, sucralose is harmless but only UP TO the limit of 15mg/kg/day! How can you be sure that even when consumed in large quantities, the ADI will not be exceeded if you cannot give the quantity used in the product?
Hello PatrickS, we do not provide exact values for this type of information/request, as these are confidential. The legal maximum permitted by Swiss regulations for sucralose in this type of product is 80mg/ per pudding, which represents 7.6% of the acceptable daily intake set by EFSA for a 70kg adult. With best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello OH! Protein pudding vanilla has the substance E471 in it. Is that derived from pork?
Hello Puddingkopf, emulsifiers, such as emulsifier E 471, are produced on the basis of fatty acids, which can theoretically be of animal origin, but are normally of vegetable origin. Today it can be assumed that emulsifiers or other fat-based additives are of vegetable origin, the animal variant is no longer common. The emulsifier E 471 (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids) in Oh! High Protein Vanilla Pudding is of vegetable origin. Best regards, your M-Infoline Team

Hello, I have been a big fan of this product for a while but doing some research recently I have discovered regarding concerns for the inclusion of E955 in food products (for instance here https://usrtk.org/sweeteners/sucralose-emerging-science-reveals-health-risks/). Can you give some info on usage/dosage or reason for inclusion? I personally believe that additional sweetener would not be needed in such product but eager to hear your views. Thanks

Dear srda, legally, Migros is governed by the requirements of the federal government (BLV), which is responsible for the risk assessment and evaluation of additives. The Additives Ordinance regulates the permissibility of the various substances and lists areas of application and maximum quantities. As long as the authorities consider sucrlaose to be safe, there is no reason for us to refrain from using these additives.Should the federal government (BLV) adjust its recommendations on the use of sweeteners such as sucralose, Migros will of course comply. All sweeteners were extensively tested for safety before being approved as food additives. Regulatory authorities, such as the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in the EU, have recognized the use of these substances as safe when consumed in normal amounts. Kind regards, dein M-Infoline Team
