I'd like to know how potatoes from Egypt are sold in Switzerland! Way to go on that "local" aspect...
Hello Gigi61, thank you for your question. Migros’ policy is to always source products from the geographically closest location—that’s correct. Of course, this must be done while ensuring the availability, high quality, and safety of the products we require. When a product is in season in Switzerland and local farmers provide sufficient quantities, we source our products domestically. In a normal harvest year, we have a good, even very good supply of Swiss products stored from the previous year until around April/May. From that point on, we import the necessary quantities from Egypt and European countries such as Cyprus or Spain. In the spring, there is a demand for new potatoes, which are not yet available here. Therefore, in the spring we sell potatoes from the new imported harvest, and then we switch back to early Swiss potatoes (around June). Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Why don't you declare where the potatoes come from in your advertising?
Hello FreexMy, thank you for your inquiry. The origin of the potatoes can sometimes change or vary depending on the region. We therefore communicate this information directly in the store or on the packaging to ensure that the information is correct. We hope these lines are informative for you. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
My understanding is limited. Then you could at least declare Switzerland, Europe and not Europe. But Migros probably deliberately doesn't do that because it knows that you can hardly attract anyone to the store with Egyptian potatoes.
