However, there are Migros cooperatives that are already offering the fruit. Unfortunately, this may have a negative impact on the quality of the nectarines or they may not yet be fully ripe. Unfortunately, we already know about asparagus from Peru. But yesterday, I was blown away by this new idiocy - nectarines from CHILE!!! Another lesson for Migros: Chile is on the other side of the globe, just below Peru. Nectarines even grow here, but a little better and slightly to the south. The nectarines here are just getting ready to blossom in a few weeks. Fruit will then be available to harvest in the SUMMER.
If you don't give a damn about anything, then stop with the marketing phrases!

We have the nectarines in our range as a supplement because there are currently no stone fruits from Europe. The quantities are very small. However, they are very popular with some customers. The nectarines come to us by ship, so the proportion of CO2 consumption caused by transportation is comparatively low. Migros will only be offering nectarines from Chile for another week or so. We will switch to European goods as early as May.
If we find that imported fruit and vegetables are no longer being bought, we will no longer offer them. From our point of view, however, it is up to our customers to make a decision. With the declared origin, we want to provide transparent information.

Wonderful answer - blame the (brainless) customers. Migros has no responsibility. It simply can't help it. It is forced to offer summer fruit in winter. It has no other choice. It would be death and destruction if there were no nectarines in winter. And shipping from the other side of the world is completely environmentally friendly.

The apples are stored in hermetically sealed storage rooms cooled to 1 to 3 °C, where the oxygen content is reduced and the CO2 content is increased.
