Hello RiodeJaneiro, Based on the lot number on the packaging and the date, the eggs can be assigned to a batch in the respective packaging, and retained samples of this batch are put back so that the eggs can be compared with each other in the event of any quality problems. In the case of dyed eggs, however, the origin code of the eggs (which is otherwise always found on raw eggs) is overcolored. Very fresh eggs are difficult to peel, which is why eggs that are to be cooked and dyed are usually stored for a few weeks. In addition, eggs laid by a young flock can also be difficult to peel. We assume that a combination of these facts was responsible for this deviation in quality. During the dyeing process, it is not always possible to completely avoid the possibility of some very fresh eggs being included. In such cases, we have no means of remedying the problem. We have already carried out tests in carton packaging and unfortunately found that these did not sell. We are therefore sticking with the transparent packaging for the time being. For example, carmine is responsible for the bright red, while annato seeds provide the rich orange, etc. A natural lacquer, obtained from the lacquer scale insect, is used as a binding agent and to seal the colorations. Presumably this provides the shine that you refer to as the "metallic effect". You can't buy these products, but you can find similar variants on our website. All the more reason for us to understand your concern. However, the fact is that the demand for boiled open eggs is too low throughout the year. As demand decreases, the risk of spoilage in stores and food waste increases. This would also be conceivable with cardboard packaging. However, there are then places where the product is no longer protected. Various studies by manufacturers also show that PET packaging is not necessarily worse for the environment than cardboard packaging. PET egg packaging can also be handed in at the PET collection points in Migros. We are aware of the problem of shelf life. Our manufacturer is already discussing a solution to the problem or testing variants, but so far without success. Unfortunately, we cannot reveal any more about this at the moment. Generally, boiled eggs are sold in plastic cartons and raw eggs in cartons.
As more boiled eggs are sold at Easter, there are correspondingly more plastic cartons than cardboard cartons in the stores.
Normally the ratio is around 80% / 20% (80% carton boxes / 20% plastic).
