Hello Dragonball, thank you for your contribution. Please note that the markdowns have just started and the process takes time. Low price does not mean lowest price. We are also exposed to price fluctuations, especially for fruit and vegetables, due to the volatile market situation. We ask for your patience regarding the price reductions. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

3.20.- CHF for an organic cucumber in Migros Tägerwilen, already exaggerated...

Hello Team1, thank you for your inquiry. We regret that the price of the organic cucumber gives cause for complaint and have forwarded your feedback to our specialist department for review and comment. It is the case that a product usually has a higher price at the start of the season in Switzerland, as supply is often still scarce and yields can still vary greatly among producers. The price settles over time and then stabilizes at a lower level if the sun is not absent for too long (leading to slower plant growth). We are pleased to inform you that the price for organic cucumbers will be reduced from Fr. 3.20 to Fr. 2.95 from next week. Thank you for your understanding and we wish you a nice Whitsun weekend. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

The price of normal cucumbers is also extremely high, what is the reason for this?

Hello Team1, the situation is the same for conventional cucumbers: Here, too, the price is high at the start of the season inland, as supply is still scarce and harvest volumes can vary greatly. The price will fall as soon as harvest volumes increase. The sunnier and warmer the temperatures, the faster this happens. We hope this helps you and look forward to your next visit to Migros. "Hello Migroteam, I would like to know how this price of 1.- comes about? How exactly is it financed, is the difference paid by the producer, Migro or is it subsidized by the state?

Hi Michi1967, as we buy a very large quantity of fruit and vegetables from the supplier, we can do this at a lower price than if we buy a smaller quantity. The additional quantities are also interesting from a logistics point of view and the price reduction is additionally supported by a one-off optimization in Migros logistics. We are happy to pass this price reduction on to our customers and can thus create an attractive offer for them. However, we can only offer such prices in exceptional cases and for a short time. The last one I bought was rotten from top to bottom. It's not the first one. Bought in Migros Aare. Branch: Bern Winkelried. Manufacturer: Wolf Manfred 3216 Ried bei Kerzers. Packed on: 04.07.2020.

Hello migroszaeme_123, we are sorry that the cucumber has spoiled prematurely. Cucumbers are natural products where not every defect is immediately visible and only becomes apparent later. You can report such findings directly to your store's customer service department and you will receive a replacement. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Are the organic cucumbers at LeShop offered without plastic wrap? Because on the product picture they are shown without packaging, but with the note that the picture is not binding!

Is really pictured as it is delivered. In a sleeve and not in a foil like MMM Brügg, where I normally scan the things!

I can't understand why organic cucumbers (and other vegetables) are packaged in so much plastic. I have the feeling that the organic concept is not so compatible with plastic packaging! Are there no better alternatives?

Dear guest
Thank you for contacting us.
We are obliged by law to clearly separate organic products from conventionally produced goods at all times. This is why Migros deliberately sells the majority of its organic fruit and vegetables in packaged form. This is for the simple reason that, as a consumer, you can be sure that if it says organic on the label, it is also organic.
If organic products are not packaged, there is a risk of contamination from various factors, such as other fruit or customers who touch the goods and have previously applied cream to their hands, for example. Furthermore, the traceability of the packaged products is seamless.
Many people are only aware of the disadvantages of packaging, but as already mentioned, packaging also has significant advantages: Long-lasting freshness and extended shelf life, help for customers with information on it (e.g. dating, origin, lot number for traceability), better protection and less contamination.
The question of the ecological assessment of different packaging variants has occupied experts for years. In order to evaluate the most ecological packaging option, we at Migros calculate life cycle assessments as early as the packaging development stage. These allow us to determine the impact on the air, water and soil for each type of packaging and calculate the energy consumption.
We hope for your understanding and look forward to your next visit.
Kind regards from the M-Infoline team

I absolutely cannot understand this either (despite the above detailed attempts at justification) and when shopping I am even torn between buying packaged organic vegetables or unpackaged conventional vegetables.
Whenever possible, I therefore buy my organic vegetables at the weekly market!

I would also like to see less plastic. You wash or rub the food anyway, because it can also get dirty during harvesting (e.g. when a worker rubs his nose or sneezes, sweats ...). The declaration could also be indicated on the product description - as with non-organic products (only the country of origin is indicated there, but there would certainly be room for more information).

Hello henguely, thank you for your post. Organic products must be clearly separated from conventionally produced products at all times due to the Organic Farming Ordinance. Because Migros also sells conventional produce in its stores alongside organic fruit and vegetables, Migros has so far sold most of its organic range in packaged form to avoid confusion. We also recently heard about the "light tattoo" method and are currently taking a closer look at it. Light tattoos make it possible to clearly identify a product as organic. So far, this labeling has been ensured by a sticker on the product or by the product packaging. A light tattoo could replace a sticker or even the packaging itself for certain products. However, it should be noted that, in addition to purely providing information (in this case the labeling of the organic product), the packaging also fulfills an important protective function and protects the product from premature spoilage or dehydration, for example. It should therefore be carefully checked for each product whether packaging can be replaced by a light tattoo or sticker without compromising product quality and shelf life. However, suitability in practice is also important in this context (e.g. feasibility with our suppliers, etc.). Best regards, your M-Infoline team

It is advisable to press lightly on the blunt end of the organic cucumber. It is often quite soft there, i.e. rotten, and completely ruined after a short time in the vegetable drawer. In view of the rather high price, this is more than just annoying.

Hello Karl E.

Thank you very much for your feedback.
We are sorry that you are not satisfied with the quality of our organic cucumbers.
We always strive to offer very good quality in our stores. We try to guarantee this by setting clear requirements for our suppliers on the one hand and by carrying out strict checks on incoming goods on the other. However, we are aware that, in individual cases, poorer quality goods may reach our stores. However, we are constantly working to prevent this as far as possible.
We have reported your concerns to the relevant departments in Purchasing and Quality Assurance and hope to be able to impress you with our quality again in the future. In general, if you are not satisfied with a product, you can return it to the relevant store and receive a replacement if necessary.
We hope to welcome you back to Migros soon and wish you a pleasant afternoon. Your M-Infoline team

The problem is probably much more that the plastic-wrapped cucumbers from Migros remain on sale for several days longer than the unpackaged (conventional!) cucumbers! According to Migros, the packaged organic cucumbers stay fresh for up to 14 days! So if you want a really fresh organic cucumber, you should leave the packaged ones on the shelf.

It's the same for me
