Hello, are organic fair trade banana labels compostable?
When will organic avocado labels be compostable? Cdt
Hello Fairtrade2025, thank you for your question. Some stickers, such as those on bananas, are recyclable, as they are made of paper. Due to the risk of confusion with non-compostable stickers, however, no fruit or vegetable stickers should be disposed of with green waste. The stickers are easily removed from the products and can be disposed of accordingly. Yours sincerely, the M-Infoline team

The bannans are not as good in taste as chiqita please bring back the chiqita bannans the others can't even be eaten
Hello BLUMENRosen102, thank you very much for your message. We regret that we were unable to convince you with the Migros organic Fairtrade bananas ☹. Migros follows the trend and is constantly adapting its range. We have therefore immediately submitted your suggestion to the relevant specialist department. We will consider your input, but ask for your understanding that we cannot promise inclusion at present. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

My question relates to all the fruit and vegetables we buy "by the piece": Why have you changed the labels we stick on the plastic packaging? Up to now, I've always reused the plastic bag after peeling off the label. But your new labels stick so tightly that the bag tears when you try to peel them off, which is a shame... and not very environmentally friendly!
Hello PaligueThe old labels have come off the piece of fabric intended for the reusable, eco-friendly Veggie Bags. The labels were criticized on Migipedia and in other media. The environmental impact of a Veggie Bag is lower than that of a traditional disposable plastic bag. Best regardsFrederica
Hello Paligue, we're sorry you're having trouble removing the stickers. On the one hand, stickers should be easy to remove, but on the other, they shouldn't come off prematurely. These are contradictory and exacting requirements when it comes to adhesives. In any case, we look forward to hearing from you. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Are the nerdy glues on the bananas compostable or do you have to scrape them off first?
Hello username2, although the stickers are not biodegradable, they are made of recyclable paper. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
That means no, you have to scrape them off first?
Hello username2, thank you for your message. From 2022, all stickers in our fruit and vegetable sector must be made of compostable material. However, a special regulation applies to bananas: compostable stickers are currently very difficult to obtain in Central and South America, so suppliers have not yet been able to implement this. From 2023, however, we will also provide all Migros bananas with a compostable sticker. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I bought these organic Max Havelaar bananas and wonder why there has to be a sticker on every single banana that says BIO Migros Fairtrade. Surely this sticker would be enough on a bunch of bananas? It just looks very unappetizing like that.
Good morning. Kim_my M-Infoline wrote in the forum on similar questions: The trend of adding stickers to fruit and vegetables is becoming increasingly popular worldwide. However, this is not only happening to the satisfaction of consumers. Switzerland - and Migros - does not have enough influence to affect the common practice in European trade. In the case of organic products, we are obliged by regulations to make a precise distinction in order to avoid confusion with conventionally produced fruit and vegetables. As there are many customers who do not buy a whole bunch of organic bananas, we are obliged to ensure that every single organic banana is labeled. The majority of Migros stores sell both organic and conventional WWF bananas. There are only a few stores that only sell organic ban anas. Best regardsFrederica
Hello Kim_my, thank you for your feedback on the organic bananas. We understand your opinion very well - we would like to comment on it. It is our task and duty to ensure that there is no confusion with other brands. The stickers on our bananas are made of recyclable paper and the employees in the country of origin stick them on the green bananas. It is important that this work step is already completed at this point, as these fruits are sensitive to pressure after processing (yellow state). Of course, we have informed the specialist department about your feedback so that they can look into adjustments if necessary. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Which country do these bananas come from?
Hello eleyel, thank you for your question. The origin varies between Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
To be honest, I'm not sure whether Migros really has too little influence when it comes to these miserable labels. If we are all supposed to make an effort to look after the good world and reduce waste, it would be desirable to no longer allow these labels. There would certainly be alternatives. If we really wanted to...
