Is the peel of organic oranges safe to eat and if so, why is this not mentioned anywhere? Conversely, if the peel is not suitable for consumption, I would like this to be explicitly stated.
Hello enormously, thank you for your inquiry. You can use the organic oranges for cooking and baking without hesitation. Conventionally grown citrus fruits are usually treated with fungicides after harvesting to extend their shelf life and prevent fungal infestation. As a general rule, European oranges sold openly are not treated with pesticides after harvesting. However, post-harvest treatment is not permitted for organic products in accordance with organic requirements. Migros is also increasingly dispensing with the use of chemical agents and relying on natural treatment methods, such as natural waxes. These oranges always state that the peel is suitable for cooking and baking. With organic oranges, however, there is no indication on the packaging or on the price tag, as organic oranges are always untreated fruit. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
