Why on earth does Migros sell melons from Honduras? Peaches from South Africa?? Is that really necessary?

Hello bumpischluch, thank you very much for your message. We can well understand why the origin from distant countries raises questions. We would be happy to explain our motives to you. We are one of the biggest customers of Swiss agriculture. On average, we source 70% of our vegetables from local farmers and 30% of our fruit comes from here. Of course, we would like to offer even more fresh produce from Switzerland. But Swiss farmers cannot meet the demand for many vegetables and fruits. At the same time, there is a growing demand for a healthy, vitamin-rich diet, which we naturally want to meet. It is not feasible to meet this preference with the approximately 30 % of produce described above. We are therefore dependent on imports. We rely on the geographically closest destinations where the goods are available in the required quantities and quality. Both points must be available in equal measure. This explains the sometimes long distances. Nevertheless, the issue of sustainability continues to occupy us intensively. We are aware that improvements are possible and necessary - and we are working on them. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Why have stocks in Breitenbach and Balsthal still been displayed in the app for almost two weeks? I can't find what I'm looking for...

Why does a Charentais melon come from Spain? Can't we have seasonal produce from the country of origin? I'm fed up with your products from Spain.

Hello GALIA15, thank you for your message. Migros always buys its products from the nearest geographic region. We are aware that some people find it unnecessary to import fresh produce, but it is important for many others. Our customers need to be able to decide for themselves which products they do and do not want to buy. To enable them to make an informed decision, we provide all the necessary information. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I see you're not answering my question. I'm very concerned about where fresh produce comes from. So you're saying that your principle is always to buy from the nearest geographical region, I didn't know that Spain was next door to Switzerland !!!! Charentais melons are mainly produced in Cavaillon (France) and I don't think that's any further away than Spain, plus we know that Spain has a bad ecological impact. So I don't buy anything from there - organic or not. I think it would be a good thing if you stopped offering fruit and vegetables that aren't in season, and started offering local produce. Your customers would be forced to adapt. In the end, it's you who run the game, not your customers, as you claim. Many people, including myself, are concerned by the behavior of supermarkets, which claim to act for the environment, animal welfare and so on. This is not true, as the facts can be seen in publications recognized for their veracity, with photos to back them up. People have visited websites with happy chickens, even happier pigs, etc., but the reality is different. It's all a lie to make your customers think you're do-gooders, very concerned about the environment, etc. It's all false.

finally Melons with a little more taste,, the best stay in France.....? why..?

Hi Phiche, Thank you very much for contacting us about the Charentais melons. We are very sorry that a product from our range has given you cause for complaint. It goes without saying that we aim to offer only the very best products in our stores, although we are aware that here and there you may find goods of lesser quality. We apologize if this is the case with our Charentais melons, due to this summer's frequent rainfall. The weather conditions inevitably influence the taste of the melons. We would like to point out that goods which are not to your satisfaction can always be returned to the store to be replaced. We hope that you will have better experiences with our melons again. We look forward to your next visit and send you our warmest regards. Your M-Infoline team
