10 questions

How do I determine whether a mango is good? Recently there have been some, although they look perfect without bruises, which were brown on the inside and mushy brown (rotten?) around the stone.

Hello conbuc, Getting fruit and vegetables onto the shelves at the optimum degree of ripeness is not that easy. On the one hand, the goods should arrive in our stores ripe and full of flavor. On the other hand, they need to be easy to transport and not spoil just a few days after being sold. These are two very different requirements.

The color of the skin has no influence on the degree of ripeness. A fruit that is ripe for consumption is particularly fragrant around the stalk. A mango ripens at room temperature. They should not be kept in the fridge. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

But if everything is right, why in the middle, although still hard on the outside, brown/rotten?????

Hello conbuc, thank you for your question. We try to guarantee flawless goods by imposing clear requirements on our suppliers and carrying out strict checks on incoming goods. Unfortunately, we cannot immediately recognize certain signs from the outside during spot checks or they only become apparent after some time. However, we can assure you that we do everything in our power to offer delicious fruit. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

What kind of mangoes are they? Are they Kesar, Langda, or something else? Or are they a combination of different types?

Hello mr25, thank you for your inquiry. We currently sell the varieties "Keitt" and "Palmer" from Brazil. Otherwise, we focus in particular on the Peruvian "Kent". We hope this information is helpful for you. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Where can you see whether the fruit was transported by plane or ship?

Hello Tini111 Labeling in the display by product: e.g. "by Air" or an airplane logo. By the way. Transporting mangoes by ship is more climate-neutral than Swiss apples. best regardsFrederica

Hello Tini111, thank you for your message. We deliberately want to give our customers the choice of whether they want to buy flown-in products or not. We therefore declare all products flown in. Incidentally, the proportion of fruit and vegetables flown in is less than 1%. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Dear M Infoline, and you can go to the sign? In the Glattpark branch there are Selection Mangos from Peru labeled with the flight and right next door Mango essreif, from Peru, which are not followed?

Hello Tini111, thank you very much for your question. You can rely on the labels. We only fly in the Sélection Mango tree-ripe, as this is a sign of quality. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

For me, it is questionable why a mango from Brazil can get 5 stars in the sustainability category.

Hello Jgoegb, the production of mangoes in the countries of origin has relatively little impact on the climate. What is relevant is transportation. The "Sélection Mango" comes by plane. That's why it only has two stars. Air transportation generates large quantities of emissions. The "Mango essreif Brasilien" comes by ship. That's why it has 5 stars. Is air transportation of these mangoes completely out of the question?

No, that would be so-called flying mangoes :-)

Bought Mango on Saturday at Glatt and on Sunday it was already broken ;o( Money for nothing...

Hello guest
We very much regret the discrepancy with Mango and apologize.
The employees in the sales outlets are well trained and pay the utmost attention to merchandise management. Unfortunately, they did not notice the poor quality of the mango in question.

Goods that do not meet the usual quality standard can be returned to the point of sale's customer service department - preferably with the original packaging and receipt. The amount already paid will be refunded.

We have forwarded your message to the responsible persons so that checks can be stepped up. You are welcome to collect the amount for the inedible mango from customer service at Migros Glatt. The sales staff have been informed accordingly.
We hope that in future only flawless products will end up in your shopping basket.
Best regards

I was often disappointed when buying mangoes in Migros. They look very good but are often tasteless and inedible. A real shame. Aldi mangoes are much cheaper and much tastier and very juicy.

Hello Sarah-Hannelore Meier-Schmidt
We are sorry that you did not like the mangoes.
Of course, it is important to us to always offer very good quality in our stores. We try to guarantee this by setting clear requirements for our suppliers on the one hand and by carrying out strict checks on incoming goods on the other.
Certain quality defects sometimes only become apparent after some time and are barely visible.
We have forwarded your observations to the relevant departments. In general, you can return a product to the store if you are not satisfied with it. You may get a replacement on site.
Best regards from the M-Infoline team

Thank you for your reply, yes I think I will get over myself from now on and return the product. So far I have not dared and have only been annoyed :-)! I will do it differently now, not get annoyed anymore and bring the product back.
Have a nice weekend and thank you for your reply

I also had to throw away a mango today because it was rotten(?) on the inside. It was purple on the inside and didn't smell good.

Hello Sarah-Hannelore
Nothing against you, but the price comparisons with Aldi are quite annoying. Aldi is a crap store, I would never set foot in there and Lidl is not a bit better.

Sorry, the Migros mangoes are of inadequate quality. Even 3 days after purchase, they are still not ready to eat, but are already wrinkled. Mangolassi cannot be made, too much acid.
