Good day
Why does this oatmeal have so much less fiber than the competition, despite being whole grain?

Hello Jamas, your question is justified, it is indeed the case that the nutritional fiber content of our oat flakes is lower than that of the competition. You will also find higher values (10.0-10.5%) in the usual nutritional value databases. An inquiry to the manufacturer revealed the following:
The nutritional values are natural and cannot be influenced in the case of wholemeal products. In principle, the nutritional values of the oat flakes we produce should be similar to those of our competitors. There are certainly slight differences in terms of provenance and type of oats, but oat flakes are all whole grain, so the production process has a significant influence on the nutritional value. We are happy to take this as an opportunity to check the fiber content.

Dear Migros For some time now, I have noticed that the racks of oat flakes are empty! What does this mean for us customers?

Was already asked and answered 4 days ago. Delivery interruption, probably available again next week.

Hello Claudia2018, unfortunately there have been repeated interruptions to deliveries in recent weeks. We currently expect to be able to offer various products again from the end of calendar week 27 and 28. We are also working with our suppliers to ensure that we have oat flakes back on the shelves permanently in future. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

So stalling customers week by week (see also question below) seems a bit strange to me. Why don't you communicate a confirmed date first and then just a 'until further notice', that would be more honest.

Hello everyone, I regularly eat these flakes. Apparently, some of the crushed flakes that you can buy are heat-treated during processing to preserve them. Is that also the case with this product? Are these flakes exposed to heat at any point during the manufacturing process? This could have an effect on certain ingredients... I'm curious - thanks for any clarification / information!

Hello jottbee, thank you for your inquiry. We are pleased that you are happy to purchase the product from us and that you are interested in the processing method. The in-depth clarifications have taken some time. We are sorry that we are only now getting back to you. The following information is provided below: The oat flakes are treated with steam during production. We also cook them before hulling. These processes give the ingredient its typical taste. The flakes lose their bitterness. Furthermore, as you rightly point out, the shelf life is extended. The heat also ensures that the oat kernels do not break apart. On the whole, cooking has a positive effect on the oats. It makes the product more digestible. We hope this information helps you. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I have read that oatmeal can be contaminated with mold, mineral oil or nickel. I eat a portion of about 50 grams of oatmeal for breakfast every day. Are the M-Classic wholemeal oat flakes safe?

Hello Claudia2018, thank you for your question. We and our suppliers check our product range on a random and risk-based basis in order to test compliance with the specifications and ensure the quality of the products. If deviations are detected, for example in mold, mineral oil or nickel values, the appropriate measures are of course taken immediately. We were unable to detect any deviations in the M-Classic oat flakes. We hope you continue to enjoy your daily morning muesli. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Why is the 500g pack being phased out? Because it's Swiss?

Hello supergibus, we have withdrawn these oat flakes from our assortment because demand was too low. This has nothing to do with their origin. As an alternative, we recommend the following product: https://produits.migros.ch/bio-flocons-davoine-complets-fins. Sincerely, your M-Infoline team

Dear Comunity I am happy to support the Terra Suisse label. The 500g oat flakes are from Terra Suisse. What about this 1kg pack? Visually, they only differ in terms of size and the fact that the 1kg pack does not bear the Terra Suisse logo... Does that mean they are not from Swiss producers?

Hello Dexterwolf, thank you for your post. No, the M-Classic wholemeal oat flakes 1kg do not come from Switzerland but from Finland/Sweden/Germany/Austria. As additional information, we can tell you that Migros has been the first retailer to offer organic oat flakes from Swiss cultivation in its range since January 2013. Although Swiss farmers have been producing oats for a long time, they have mainly used them as animal feed due to their poor quality. Together with its Swiss oat mill and Bio Suisse, Migros was able to persuade Swiss organic farmers to grow oats for them. As a result, the quality of the oats has steadily improved in recent years, both in terms of cultivation and processing. Thanks to cultivation in Switzerland, Migros keeps transport routes short and supports local organic farmers. your M-Infoline Team

For me, this does not answer the question of why Swiss rolled oats are only available in 500g packs and are much more expensive than the Finnish 1kg pack.

Hello Evolet, thank you for the question. Swiss organic oats are only available in limited quantities. We can therefore only offer a 500 g pack (unfortunately this is currently not available due to procurement problems). The 1 kg pack of oats from Finland is conventional (not organic). It is therefore cheaper. Best regards, your M-Infoline Team
