Why does Migros mustard no longer come from Switzerland? I only saw it yesterday, made in France!!!

Good morning Bali2017↵↵Elsa, which belongs to M-Industry, acquired a majority stake in the cold sauce and spice manufacturer Idhéa in Hochfeldern, Alsace, on September 27, 2016. Therefore production France 🇫🇷↵↵Best regards↵Frederica

Hello Bali2017, thank you for your question. As Frederica correctly wrote, ELSA bought a production factory in Alsace. Therefore, the place of origin is now France - but the mustard is still produced by our own industry. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

...oh! I was going to ask the same question! You want to buy extra Swiss products, then the 😥 but then you write on it - Fabriqué en Alsace par ELSA 😉 then it looks less like a cheap import.

oh dear - i want swiss products in Migros

Everyone wants only Swiss products, of course only organic, eggs only from free-range farms (in every product!!), without palm oil, everything only vegan and vegan, of course, and it has to be cheap, etc. .....

Hello Hugo1743, thank you for your message. We adhere to the internal guidelines regarding the design of the country of production. For this reason, it is difficult for us to customize certain designs. Nevertheless, we have submitted your suggestion to our specialist department. We may be able to make adjustments as part of the next packaging revision. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

The consistency of the mustard has changed. Has the recipe been adjusted?

Hello snuc, thank you for the question. We have made a slight change to the recipe and removed additives. This resulted in a slightly more liquid consistency. However, this should not result in any other differences. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Is the mustard vegan? There is no logo on it and it generally makes no sense that the product is not vegan. By the way, are all products labeled vegan or only those where it is not clear?

@Emden I'll give you my assumptions about the mustard in advance. The vinegar used has probably been clarified with gelatine, which is why animal products have been used in the production chain and are therefore disqualified from the V-label/vegan flower guidelines. And on the second point: no, the V-label is not consistently applied. Many products are not labeled as they do not contain any animal ingredients - generally bread and cereal products, vegetables and fruit (fresh, frozen, canned), jams, snacks such as potato chips, pretzel sticks, grissini, baking mixes and ingredients, dark chocolate, etc. However, it depends very much on the respective production method or recipe whether animal substances are contained or used. Some things are labeled, others are not. So the criterion of uniqueness will probably not explain the label declaration. For example, it makes absolutely no sense to write "vegan" on tofu and the like; it would be like writing "contains animal" or something like that on a Landjäger or a salami. I think it's very much based on the knowledge of specific customer groups - who knows what tofu is?

. Hello Emden, Hello Kurumi We are happy to confirm that M-Classic mild mustard is vegan. Of course, a V-label makes no sense on products such as rice or oatmeal. However, in the case of a product that consists of several ingredients and has undergone a processing procedure, it is not necessarily clear or known whether it meets the comprehensive requirements for a vegan product. In principle, we therefore apply the V-Label primarily to products with a complex composition, focusing on certain product ranges - milk and meat substitutes, soups, sauces and ready meals. In the case of tofu, the fact that it is a popular meat substitute also plays a role. With the vegan V-label on tofu, we are giving everyone who is looking for a purely plant-based alternative to meat and is unfamiliar with the ingredients and processing procedures the reassurance they need. . Hello Emden, thank you for your question. Most products that are vegan also carry the vegan button. If a product is vegan by nature, such a claim is not permitted. The M-Classic mild mustard is therefore not labeled as the vinegar used is not vegan. However, we are already looking into whether we can change the vinegar to a vegan version. Is this mustard gluten-free?

Hello guest
Thank you for your inquiry.
The main ingredient in mustard is water, followed by the mustard seed. Mustard seed is a natural product that grows in fields. Therefore, we cannot rule out contamination with cereals containing gluten.
The maximum contamination with cereals containing gluten is 10mg/kg. The mustard mentioned contains 20% mustard seeds. This means that the mustard contains a maximum of 1.64mg/kg of gluten-containing impurities.
Under Swiss food law, an article may be labeled as "gluten-free" if the gluten content does not exceed 20mg/kg.
Kind regards from the M-Infoline team
