Dear Migros
I have noticed that the safflower oil has been much yellower than usual since this summer. It turns rancid within a few weeks. I used to be able to keep it in a dark place at room temperature for the two months or so it takes to use it up, but now it goes rancid after three weeks at the most. Why is that? And when can I get it again in the tried and tested, pale yellow and stable quality?
Thank you & best regards

Hello IchNochmal, thank you for your message. We are sorry that you had an inconvenience with our safflower oil. We would like to follow up on your comment.
Please let us know the best-before date and the batch/lot number of the bottle in question. The batch/lot number is located next to the best-before date and usually contains a mixture of numbers and letters.
We would also be grateful if you could send us photos of the product contents 😊. This will enable us to make further clarifications for you. Thank you in advance for your efforts! Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Very much appreciated, 02.2026 B762, left bottle, old oil, as it used to be, slipped backwards in the cupboard due to my carelessness and expired, on the right the said new bottle, which is now already rancid.
Many thanks and best regards, IchNochmal
PS: I also checked the texture: The new, yellower oil has a much tougher, stickier texture than the old, much lighter oil and this despite the fact that both are now rancid, the old one because I had forgotten about it, the new one because this quality obviously just doesn't hold up anymore and is already questionable anyway when I look at that color. What's more, the pretty, colorless and highly transparent bottle is probably the worst thing you can use for packaging such a delicate oil of this composition, because polyunsaturated fatty acids and light are not a good combination, even if the oil ends up back in my dark cupboard.
Sincerely, IchNochmal
Hello IchNochmal, thank you very much for sending us the photo. We really appreciate your help! During our clarifications with the responsible specialist department, it turned out that there were no adjustments. However, safflower oil is a natural product whose color and stability can depend on the respective harvest. Accordingly, the oilseeds differ slightly in composition depending on the vintage, origin and weather conditions. However, this should not stand in the way of quality. You can therefore be sure that we will keep an eye on this issue. If necessary, we will take further precautions. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Dear Infoline team,
Thank you for your clarifications. I find it really amazing that nothing has come to light. I'm afraid I have to tell you that I'm going to buy an oil from Coop - I know that the Morga oil is cold-pressed, yours is refined, which was enough for me and would still be enough if it didn't go rancid so quickly. I need a good alternative and hopefully I will find one. I will only consider your oil again when I see in the store that it is as pale yellow as it should be.
Best regards, IchNochmal

Dear M-Infoline Team Are solvents used during the refining process? And how is it possible to have such a high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids despite refining? As far as I know, refining destroys precisely these... I would appreciate a meaningful answer.
Hello Gabriel, thank you for your message. Sorry for the late reply. We had technical problems. We do not use any solvents for refining. Safflower oil is characterized by a high proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids. These acids are not destroyed by the refining process. This means that the fatty acid profile from the crude oil to the finished raffinate is not changed. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Is the safflower oil roasted? Cold-pressed? Where are the thistles grown?
I would like to see more information on the label.
