Can these fries also be prepared in an Air Frier?

Hoi Yiddo82, thank you for your question. The M-Classic French fries can also be prepared in an Air Frier. However, it depends on the appliance - we recommend you check the manufacturer's instructions. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Why always palm oil and such vegetable oil mixtures? Why not sunflower oil, rapeseed oil from Switzerland? It would be nice if Migros paid more attention to sustainability and health here!

Dear guest
Unfortunately, pure sunflower or rapeseed oil is not suitable for the high frying temperatures required over the planned period of use. For this reason, vegetable oil mixtures are the best choice for deep-frying potatoes. Due to its special properties, this frying oil is very heat-resistant and fewer by-products are formed. The oil used is also very resistant to ageing processes such as rancidity.

It is of course important to us to pay attention to sustainability and health. For this reason, we are constantly testing other oil mixtures in order to achieve the best possible frying results.
Sustainability:
The entire quantity of palm oil used by Migros industrial operations is now covered by GreenPalm certificates. GreenPalm is a system similar to green electricity. In this way, Migros supports the production of sustainable palm oil. The proceeds from the sale of the certificates go directly to the producers and enable them to earn a higher income. Migros has made a commitment to the WWF and the RSPO to use only sustainable palm oil in100% of the products concerned by the end of 2015.
Health:
Like any other fat with a high proportion of saturated fatty acids, palm oil should be consumed in moderation. Palm oil is solid at room temperature (and at refrigerator temperature). It can be heated to high temperatures, which is why it is used in many industrially manufactured products. From a technological point of view, only hydrogenated fats can be used as a substitute. These also have a high proportion of saturated fatty acids and are therefore not a better alternative from a nutritional point of view. It is important to know that the so-called "healthier" oils such as rapeseed oil or olive oil are liquid at room temperature. Replacing hydrogenated oils/fats or palm oil with other vegetable oils or fats therefore not only has a decisive influence on the consistency, but also on the shelf life and mouthfeel of a product. Nevertheless, Migros is committed to improving its products sustainably from a nutritional point of view, for example by trying to increase the proportion of unsaturated fatty acids in the product within the scope of technological possibilities.

You wrote about 4 years ago that sunflower oil was not suitable for this. What has happened that it is now possible after all?

Dear ivan92 The oil used today is high oleic sunflower oil, which is particularly resistant to frying and comes from special sunflower varieties. In 2012, the manufacturing company was not yet technically equipped to produce this oil. As part of the Migros sustainability strategy, which promotes the use of sunflower oil, the production line at our supplier was retrofitted and sunflower oil can now be used for deep-frying. Unfortunately we don't have a deep fryer.... can you prepare them without one and if so how? I would be glad to get some advice, because this package fills a large part of our freezer...

Thank you for your Migipedia article.

These fries are only intended for preparation in the deep fryer. We therefore recommend the M-Classic oven fries.

If necessary, you can return the purchased pack to your store's customer service, but there is no guarantee that it will be taken back.

Since I received the product as a gift from Migipedia, it is hardly possible to return it. I will now look for a volunteer family...

I'm particularly confused by the TAG oven...that's probably wrong if these fries have to go in the deep fryer, isn't it?

No problem making them in the oven, if they are normal size I would leave them in the oven at 200°C for about 20 minutes and then just keep checking how much time they still need. I always buy chips for the deep fryer and make them in the oven, it's often cheaper and has fewer calories, but tastes just as good.

Vele Dank for de TiIp, I will try it out shortly!

Thank you for your feedback.
The packaging of the M-Classic French fries shows a deep fryer. The packaging of the M-Classic oven fries shows an oven.
Basically:
French fries for the deep fryer
Oven fries for the oven
So the tag "oven" is not correct. Of course, Migipedia users can add tags themselves that they feel are appropriate.
However, we recommend that you follow the preparation instructions on the packet.
