Actually, the type of salmon should be indicated on the pack. I'm afraid it has something to do with sockeye. In the past, this type of salmon would only have been eaten canned. But unfortunately the wild salmon in the Pacific is almost extinct. Nevertheless, it is certainly valuable and keeps the poor fishermen alive.
